Thank you! That's sound exactly like what I am looking for to read. I think I will hold off on reading it until I finish the drama though. Otherwise, I won't be able to resist comparing the two. I will be glad to have a more FL orientated perspective of this story. Just wondering are the characters mostly characterised the same or is there a huge difference between the book and the drama? Like is Feng Chang a horrible brother in the books like Feng Ju? I have a soft spot for Feng Chang currently, even though he is a very flawed character.

The unfortunate reality of Cdrama is that a lot of time strong fls are rewritten so much weaker and foolish in the drama adaptations compared to their book counterparts. I swear the industry needs get away from the cliche of the damsel in distress trope to start realising that a strong fl doesn't always need to be saved by the ml just to prove their deep and abiding love.

Thank you! Oh wow that's really close to the end of the drama! It will be really interesting to see if he know or not then before she tells him haha. I don't really have a clue right now, but I'm absolutely loving the interactions between the leads over her identity. It's hilarious to see him trying to woo her and her completely or on purpose misunderstanding him. This jealousy towards his future brother-in-law though at this point makes me think that he doesn't know her identity yet.
When does the ml find out that the fl is Feng Xi Yun? I'm only on ep 25 and loving the drama. The slow pace burning romance is exactly what I enjoy watching. But I just really want to know when he finds out about BFX being FXY. Haha I'm a sucker for spoilers, so please spoil me!

Completely concur! You've voiced exactly how I feel about a great deal of this drama. Things start to make more sense in ep 14 when the Fl's background is reveal. The focus of the drama doesn't seem to be very political until the latest episodes. The traditional palace harem formula doesn't really apply here. It is indeed a slice of life drama with a focus on food for much of the beginning. I love the food so I've been able to continue watching up til now but honestly to me the plot doesn't have much substance. The motivations and characterisations of the characters are very lacking currently, but some stuff is revealed later on (the imperial guard's reasoning will make some sense later on for example). The FL's 'forgiving' nature is both a blessing and a curse as it makes me feel like the story lacks a driving goal, other than her wish to be an exceptional cook. I don't quite believe the relationship between her and the ML. If it weren't' for their failed romance in Yanxi, I would not be as invested in the two of them getting their happy ending. I find the relationship here to be a pale imitation in comparison. Unfortunately the revealing of her background and reasons for entering the palace just further confuse me currently. Seems like the drama is aiming for extreme slow burns by revealing key info later on instead of at the start.
Why Song Jin? I don't understand why he had to close the door and sacrifice himself. He could have run away with LY and fought next to him. They could have gotten away together. 榆木腦袋 noooooo

The premise of this drama doesn't seem to be for you. Yes it's not clarified as to why the loop only affects the mls, but that's the thing about fiction anything is possible and not everything has to be clearly explained.
They were unable to drag in the guy with a mask into the loop because essentially he never got off the bus. They nabbed him before he got on the bus in one loop.
The psychological effects of having to constantly re-live failing to stop the bomb from going off without killing anyone is a factor that I don't think you have taken into consideration. The loop it seems is keyed to ensuring that everyone must survive for the loop to end.
The mls did push harder in subsequent loops and the result ended in the murder of the calm lady in self defence in one loop. Or even the death of the police officer in another. They've had to deal with failing constantly and consecutively without a break. They are undoubtable having to deal with a mix of survivor's guilt, guilt over getting the police officer's involve killed, in the male lead's instance guilt for having murdered the calm lady in a later loop, etc. Not everyone can just pick themselves up after failing from repeating the same actions over and over again. So to essentially win, they revised their tactics. When facing an insurmountable wall, you can't just keep trying to climb it or break it. You have to find alternative ways of overcoming the challenge. The loop also keeps pushing the time they have on the bus to less and less time in later loops.
Problem with just throwing the calm lady of the bus is that she was constantly on guard the entire time. Anyone getting close to deal with her resulted to her setting the bomb off early or a delaying in getting the bomb off the bus before it blew up. In one instance, the bus driver even came over and helped set it off after they had essentially subdued the calm lady. There's not enough people to contain two perpetrators that are hell bent on suicide bombing themselves to death. Also throwing the calm lady off at the stop, which the mask guy gets on could result in more innocents being drawn into the bombing, which could complicate the control factors.
Police in circumstances of bombing would seek to de-escalate the situation. Shooting the driver would do the opposite and could result in further injuries to the passenger aboard the bus. Pushing the bus with their cars isn't entirely within the realm of impossible, as long as the force used is equivalent to the force and mass of the bus reversing. Furthermore, they are on a bridge, if they accidentally shot the bus driver, he could have literally plunged everyone into the river by driving of the bridge.
Creating a character who is repeatedly portrayed as meek and weak-willed to then later be raped is coming way…
Yes the lack of sensitivity towards victims of rape and how they have to deal with the trauma of their assault in this drama is troubling in more than one way. :(
The one thing that makes LY so perfect is that he understand QY's need to be herself and is willing to let her go so that she can do what she dreams to do with her life. They are friends that understand each other. He knows to ask her to give up her dreams to fit into his life is not fair, just as it would be impossible for him to give up his career and revenge to just follow her. Him not speaking of his feelings is truly selfless and representative of what it means to 'unconditionally love' someone. *sobbb*
QM's lack of understanding that she needs to take responsibility for her own actions still is the root of the problem. She runs to QY, begging her to fix everything with QX. Yet doesn't understand that to move forward she needs to stop thinking that everything is her's by right or default of her being born. She's so busy feeling inferior, slighted, misunderstood, wronged, and thinking that her sister's shameless schemes are immoral that she doesn't see that her actions crossed lines that her sister's never did.
QY leaving honestly makes sense to me. She's stuck between two different roads - freedom to be herself without the responsibility towards family and the uncertain future with LY (continuing to pretend to be Suyiwan) since he doesn't directly tell her about his love for her. (To LY: Just cause actions speak louder than words doesn't mean words don't need to be said.) Yes it's utterly heartbreaking to LY, but it's a not out of character for QY. QY has always wanted more than the life of being a daughter for the Qiu family could ever give her. Now she has the chance to reach out and pursue her dream, why should she wait around for LY to say he loves her? She's not defined by LY. She has always stood up for herself and pursued her ambition and dreams without apology. I hope for their happy ending together but I am glad we have this chance to see QY stand and pursue her own interests. The issue of course is the pacing of the show (it's too fast because of how few episodes there are) with everything happening all at once that I think makes everything hard to swallow.
