Hello peach. Is this drama (Bloody of Youth) the pure wuxia with fantasy element? So it's not xianxia with immortal etc right? I watched ep 1 in first 10 minutes and I was wondering if Xiao Se can also fight? Or he can fight in later part? Like SSS?
I am not gonna lie and i will give my very honest opinion. If you are a fan of this drama, then you can back off and scroll down.
Actually, this drama has no story to be told. After they changed the whole plot about "rebirth" thing from the novel, the story is no longer connected.
The production's reason why it removed the rebirth element was "censorship". Oh yeah. But "Lost Track of Time" and "Story of Kunning Palace" are also a reborn/rebirth theme. LTOT passed the censorship and it can be aired safely. Kunning is still in post production. It will be aired soon this year. No problem with that.
Its a shame that the original story has so many things to be told. It also explained why Jiang Bao Ning really wanted to avoid the marriage with emperor. In first timeline, Jiang Bao Ning was married to emperor. But the marriage without love led Jiang Bao Ning's life into misery. She found out that the emperor had affair with palace maid until she got pregnant. Jiang Bao Ning as the empress was disappointed with emperor behaviour behind her back and it brought the shame for her name. In the end, Jiang Bao Ning was killed during the politics chaos era. Suddenly, she woke up in her youth and she still remembered what happened in next 10 years. She began to arrange her strategies step by step in the palace. And the first step of it, she want to avoid the marriage with emperor. In that process, she fell in love with the imperial guard who always protect her.
Nah. The drama took the U-turn path and they messed the WHOLE plot. Jiang Bao Ning suddenly want to avoid the marriage with the emperor and SHE HAD NO STRONG REASON to do that. The motives are no longer connected to each other. The first meeting with Li Qian was also so boring and cringey.
The LEVEL of politics court things in this drama is also laughable. They want to adopt Nirvana In Fire power struggle and imperial court politics BUT they made it like a CHILD'S PLAY. It's so embarassing.
The ending of novel is also much better than this one. After Li Qian became a prince with power, he took over the throne and the dynasty was changed. He did that because the previous emperor was not able to lead the country. It was similar to how Yang Jian from Sui dynasty took over the dynasty because the young/child emperor from previous reign was not able to lead the country and people.
Romance? I dont think it was really great. Some scenes also got forced chemistry between couple especially in earlier episodes. Ju Jing Yi with heavy permanent make up failed to convince me that she fell in love with Li Qian. The 2nd couple story is even more interesting for me.
Honestly, I only like Joseph Zeng's appearance in this drama. He is so handsome. And that's it. The only reason why I still give this drama a very generous 7.0/10 rating.
The costume? JJY costumes in earlier episodes were not accurate to any chinese history. It was cheaply made. And since when she got european style in her hanfu? The other casts costumes were much better than hers.
In conclusion, they can make this drama so much better if they stay true to the novel. They also can make the process of Jiang Bao Ning survival in the palace become much elegant, smarter, and convincing. They also should make the cinematography become more dramatic with all her up and down journey. Make it real and convincing. It will be a better drama than a fast food production like this.
I dont really like the (big) age gap romance ^^ so i still prefer to choose the drama that got the girls around his age like Forever Love (Julia Xiang) and To Fly With You (Song Zu Er).

It was just CP fans wishful thinking and shippers tried to link everything about their private lives to each other (even the normal interaction + other coincidences).
That's why Reba who wanna keep playing safe, she prefer to avoid/reject the other collaborations with YY again. She want to take down the dating rumour first.
