I totally agree with you. the bl scene changed and this kind of toxic relationship is not what most viewers feel pleased to see. cutiepie would have been a great bl series if they had taken the arranged marriage plot and deconstructed it.
" lack of communication, mistrust, dishonesty, fear" exactly, both for lian/kuea and yi/diao. the only couple with a health relationship is nuer and syn but they do not have much screen time.

exactly, kuea was groomed, even lian was groomed a little imo.
in any story arranged marriage is problematic because are two people being forced to marry because of political or economic reasons. in this series they really choose a weird explanation for the marriage, i think saying that their families wanted them marrying to unite their money/properties/business etc would be more plausible than what they did (it would involve turn thailand into a fictional country where gay marriage is legal to make the economic reason make sense).

the story is outdated already. with new series coming out showing that couples can be based on honesty and sincerity, cutiepie ends up feeling like a series from years ago.
the arranged marriage does not bother me (it feels like something from ao3 tbh) bc it was something different from other bls but they kinda didnt make it looks plausible. the age gap does not bother me. i do agree with you when it comes to diao and Yi. its the second bl MaxNat are a couple and again they do not work together, makes no sense and its weird that their "relationship" is based on fear and guilt.
Some people really didn't feel the change in pace and tone worked well. Totally fair. I liked it as a first taste…
i'm looking foward for the upcoming episodes because its clear the second family will be a threat to porsche and kinn (i have not read the novel but im assuming that there will be a power struggle within the mob). so maybe my opinion towards episode 2 can change when the series finishes and more context is added.

for me it really didn't work at all. they can have jokes, lighthearted moments and comedy, but not forgetting the sense of danger that comes with working for mobsters. they also erased any reference to Porsche's brother (in a sense that they forgot about Porchay), who was cast as someone important in Porsche's life in the previous episode and hinted that he (porchay) is being watched by the mob and used to force Porsche to be Kinn's security guard. Porsche acting silly would be acceptable if it hadn't been done to excess. I don't blame the actors, but the writers, directors and producers. The script really couldn't find a balance between serious and silly moments.
And also how creepy stalkers are... Also, there is no consent involved with that head pat. It was more like a…
the thing with online culture nowadays is that people will make a lot of noise for something that is not so serious. it's fiction for christ sake. jaeyoung is awake and feels sangwoo kissing him and sangwoo feels bad after kissing jaeyoung while he "sleeps", people don't even wait for the story to end and jump to conclusions.
nunew is promising, so i hope he will have better roles in the future.
