I’m pretty sure the author denied it was romance but always said it was a queer show with queer characters, just that it doesn’t have to be romance itself, then Cygames with the steelchair
And it’s kinda hard to deny it as queer with Yoshiki being gay and the dynamic going on between Yoshiki and Hikaru. Like romance isn’t the main focus sure and the horror aspects are more central to the plot, but Yoshiki and ‘Hikaru’s’ relationship and its complications is what drives the story forward.
Gay people just can’t date normally they gotta stab each other, rip out their bone marrow and give it to you and say smth about how you are their home or that they will stick with you always
