Simple Palace Intrigue Drama
First, despite this show being set up in horizontal format, it essentially is a vertical drama. If you remove all the credits the entire show is somewhere between 3 and 4 hours long. The plot is made to look good in theory but if you don't turn your brain COMPLETELY off you notice all the plot holes, inconsistencies, and absurdities. For instance, the scene where she has TWO men in her room at night. There are spies everywhere and yet she doesn't see any issue with doing this....
Something to note is that the synopsis given about a "timer to solve the case" and "secrets of past and present dynasties" is false. Neither of these aspects have anything to do with the final show presented. Perhaps in the original concept of a show where there were going to be 40 episodes and Easter eggs would allow the viewer to control the narrative these synopsis details make sense; but not in the present show.
Ultimately I enjoyed my experience watching this drama and ranting about how dumb it is. I found it entertaining but there are absolutely better palace dramas in vertical and horizontal format.
