Agreed, although Ming Lan isn't as physically strong as some of the characters listed here, her mental strength is something to be admired.

Lol, after seeing him in both SoML and Ashes I think he's now one of my supporting actors. He's just really versatile (I mean have you seen him in The Flame's Daughter?).

I was kinda disappointed that the fight between Gil Tae Mi and Ddang Sae wasn't included but your inclusion of Nirvana in Fire made up for it haha. Good article though!

I'm in the same boat as you rn, I just finished Story of Ming Lan a few days ago and nothing is really catching my attention. I'm trying Ashes of Love but it just doesn't really impress me. I'd recommend Nirvana in Fire but you've already watched that lol. While they aren't all that similar to Story of Ming Lan I'd highly recommend Scarlet Heart (original) and Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms.

Ok, I need to know, is Water Immortal gonna die? I'm trying to not form attachments to him in case he does but like I just finished Story of Ming Lan and I'm feeling pretty fond of the actor right now.

If you want a show with amazing romance and chemistry between the leads, I highly recommend The Story of Ming Lan. It isn't as much of an epic as AoL and is much more slice of life but its still very good. Its also a bit slower and the romance takes a bit, however once the romance starts it's the absolute best. The cast is pretty great imo, plenty of well known names. Water Immortal's actor also has a role in SoML and his character is one of my favorites.

Lol, I was worried about the SLS too since Zhu Yilong stole my heart in Guardian. I started out really having some strong SLS but by the end nothing could convince me to ship anything but the endgame.

This post convinced me to give this drama a shot so thank you so much! I binged it in less than a week and it's now one of my all time favorite dramas. Everything about the drama was amazing from the music to the actors to the story.

Woah, I just remember the old summary that just made me think that it was a Nothing Gold Can Stay 2.0 which didn't interest me at all (Especially since I wasn't much of a fan of NGCS). The summary here now makes it so much more appealing.

Lmao, seriously though. The bromance was literally the best part of Guardian. I'd even compare it to Jingyan and MCS's in Nirvana in Fire and their's was one of the best bromances I've ever seen in a drama.
