I disagree that she is passive (I am also biased because I read the novel). She is weak physically and can only do a certain amount of things. She uses the minimal amount of agency that she has to try to get home. On top of being a character that believes in the inherent goodness of all people (even the villains as seen in the earlier eps). Is she annoying yes but I don't think she is not well written because if you look from her characters perspective you can understand why make the choices that she does. Not all strong female characters have to be badass we would not have this story if she was badass.

Right it is like we cant have a multitude of different types of FLs in dramas because people have a single image of what makes a character strong/interesting. Lan Hua is annoying and cute that is her character charm. I am surprised by the amount of people taking about wanting her harmed just because she can be annoying. A lot of people are complaining about FL in 11-12 but I feel like we would feel slightly differently if it was actually Esther doing those scenes. She makes the naïve lan hua seem cute and you don't get too angry even if she does something that makes you question her because you can see her determination to escape or go back to what she knows. Dylan does a good job of imitating her but does not mange to make it cute lol. I think it because he does such a good job at being the demon king that when he is supposed to be cute you want him to be domineering.

They are not following the novel at all but it is good nevertheless. The casting was done accurately cause esther is cute and Dylan is cold. I love how they have done the costumes and sets designs
