Maybe and this is just a huge maybe... most child sponsorship programs in S. Korea are in those countries? So…
I know it is a shallow drama but this is a recurring theme is dramas that are not overwhelming over the top comedies all im asking is why choose African children when they have their own people to chose from? No matter how shallow the form of media is they still have a moral duty to not perpetuate harmful stereotypes especially since this drama seems to be poking fun at everything else and saying how ridiculous it is. It just shows their bias and is not funny I would feel differently if they were challenging the whole imagery in the first place like pointing out the problem in a comedic way but that was not what they weere doing.

I can understand why you would say that but I also question this simply because they never mention countries they usually just say Africa and then drop the whole charity line It would make more sense to me if they discussed Korean charities simply because there is a need. It feel like they don't actually care about people in poverty especially because discussing their own communities struggles would maybe encourage others to check in with their local orphanages. I did a uick google search so im not sure how acurrate this information is but S.K apparently has very high rates of poverty so again it would make sense to discuss korean children. It just feels racist whenever they invoke Africans because (Koreans) they have their own problems It is aggravating and awful and they treat Black people poorly in these cases also they talk about a continent as if it is a city

What happened exactly?
The issue is the whole concept of saviorism that they could easily have been done with Korean children. You never see images of Black people in k dramas without them being sponsored children or thugs so my attitude is reasonable because this is a pattern. The few dramas I have seen where Black people are present and are not sponsored or thugs is few and far between So I would appreciate if you could understand why this pattern of rep makes me angry. It is not only an issue in dramas but their other media as well. As someone who has been watching dramas for over 17 years this isn't new and needs to be addressed.

Have you watched the drama? Is this a sincerely question? If yes then at the end of the episode the male lead shows off photos of Black children that he sends money to. Mind you they show photos of children I doubt they know personally and slap the term povrty onto them.

When will korean writers leave Black people alone... Like if you only mention Black people as a charity case or some negative stereotype please leave us out of the drama. I was enjoying the over the topness until that moment way to ruin a

They did not find their own happiness in 2521 adult heedo is a shell of her younger self. I would have believed their ending if they didnt throw the breakup in at the last 2 eps. I think there are better stories that display breakup than 2521. (Not trying to yell at you idk if it came off that way so just wanted to add that)
