That tells us nothing because a) Iraqis can live in the States b) bot farms used for spamming reviews like this…
That's a fair point, but even with possibilities like Iraqis living abroad or bot activity, the data still shows that most of the lowest ratings came from Western countries, particularly US. While some reviews do mention Iraq, the data still suggest that the backlash isn't limited to Iraqis alone.
Yes, I’ve read them. It's understandable that they feel upset, given the negative image the series portrayed about them. At the same time, it's worth noting that they are only the second largest group giving 1/10 ratings. It was US that gave the most downvotes which is twice as many as the Iraqis. Looking at other countries that gave similarly low ratings, most of them are from Western nations rather than Middle East.
I wonder why users here are blaming Iraqis for the drama’s low ratings. If you check IMDb, most of the downvotes and 1/10 ratings actually came from United States.
Yes, I’m glad about its success. Considering how well it performed in its first week, I'm expecting it to hit double digits in its second week. The last time I remember a cable K-drama reaching double digits was Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.
Worldwide popularity doesn't always translate into double-digit ratings on terrestrial TV, but it has a good chance…
I get what you mean, but hopefully things keep going strong. Considering how much this drama was criticized before it aired, I’m really glad it turned out well after release. Also, episode 2 was just re-aired a few hours ago in South Korea TV, and it actually recorded the highest ratings among all drama episode re-runs this year.
TvN’s weekend drama “Bon Appetit, Your Majesty” has surpassed KBS2’s weekend drama “Twelve”, which premiered on the same day, after just two episodes.
According to Nielsen Korea on the 25th, the second episode of “Bon Appetit, Your Majesty”, which aired nationwide on the 24th, recorded a 6.6% viewership rating. This marks a 1.7 percentage point increase from its first episode’s 4.9%.
Both “Bon Appetit, Your Majesty” and “Twelve” premiered on the 23rd. While “Twelve” initially took the lead with 8.1% for its first episode, its rating dropped to 5.9% by the second. This shift has sparked curiosity over how their ratings battle will unfold in the future.
The first episode recorded an average household rating of 5.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area, peaking at 6.7%, and an average of 4.9% nationwide, with a peak of 6.8%. Not only did it rank No. 1 among cable and general programming channels in its time slot, but it also achieved the "highest premiere ratings among all tvN weekend dramas in 2025".
In tvN’s target demographic of men and women aged 20–49, it swept the No. 1 spot across all channels, including terrestrial broadcasters, in the same time slot (based on paid platforms integrating cable, IPTV, and satellite / data provided by Nielsen Korea).
The drama got off to a strong start with enthusiastic comments like, “I’ve decided on 'Bon Appetit, Your Majesty' for weekend drama,” “Direction, acting, and story—perfect harmony,” and “Im Yoon-ah and Lee Chae-min's chemistry is fantastic.”
WTPR ratings in other platforms : Imdb, Google, Douban, Asianwiki
● IMDB : From 8.1/10 to 5.5/10 ● GOOGLE : From 4.9/5 to 1.5/10 ● DOUBAN : From 8.5/10 to 8.0/10 ● AsianWiki: From 80/100 to 46/100
If the ratings drop so much in just a few days, how much lower will they be next week?
I can't believe this is happening. Just a few days ago, it was adored by fans, particularly in Indonesia, Turkey, and Malaysia, who were constantly discussing it on Twitter. Now, it's turned into one of the most disliked dramas of the year, and people no longer want to talk about it. It seems like MBC is moving on too, as they haven't brought it up since the main leads' interview.
BTW, thrilled to still see When the Phone Rings on the Netflix Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart for the 7th week…
WTPR stayed in the top 10 for seven straight weeks. However, its final week did not surpass its peak viewership from November 25 to December 1, as expected. After a few weeks, it will likely fall out of the top 10 on Netflix and be forgotten because of its controversy.
I don't know about the comments but some post are not always allowed for us int'l viewers to see u have to use…
Oh, really? I'm not familiar with this happening in other dramas, but from my experience with WTPR, I could watch it right after they released it in the past few days. However, now, I can't watch any latest clips of WTPR.

Are you sure about that? In the past few days, I was able to view most of their WTPR clips as soon as they were released, but now I can't watch their latest ones.
Lmao douban ratings are always trash and if this drama has 8.1 that means Chinese viewers like it. Secondly google…
Yes, it’s unfortunate for YYS. However, I’ve noticed that there haven’t been any articles about this issue in South Korea so far. It seems like they might not be aware of it yet.

I noticed today that, following numerous boycott comments on MBC's accounts yesterday, they have stopped posting anything related to WTPR. It seems they are now aware of the situation. Perhaps in a few days, they will address it if there truly was a mistranslation. However, if they don’t address it soon, I’m afraid this drama might go from being one of the best to one of the worst, and WTPR could fade into obscurity within a few months. I also feel bad for YYS and his upcoming fan meetings.
No it was trending in china for their award show but when it comes to douban ratings only few dramas get 8 up.…
It's not good because the ratings will decline within a few days or weeks. If the issue isn't resolved quickly, it could drop from being one of the best dramas of 2024 to one of the worst in no time.

Douban ratings are likely to drop further in the coming days. Unfortunately, it was well-received by the Chinese audience initially, but after episode 12, the ratings started to decline. On Google, only the top ratings (5-star) are currently visible, but if the issue isn't addressed soon, lower ratings may begin to dominate the display.
▪︎ No. 3 worldwide on Netflix yesterday (flixpatrol.com)
▪︎ No. 1 in TV-OTT Drama Buzzworthiness on FUNDEX (first week)
▪︎ Yoona and Lee Chae Min are currently the most searched/popular K-actors on Google worldwide
And chances are, it’ll stay strong or climb even higher in the next few days...
