The screenwriter and director committed a crime and torture against fans of BL series. It would been more humane if they "thrown" us into the hands of Vegas dressed in a raincoat...
It's not about hypocrisy. I think it's more about nuance and context. Some problematic behaviours can be tolerate…
That's exactly it. And the dark mafia story is not really an excuse for everything. Because let's not lie, Kinn was like the CEO of some security agency that deals with shady business and not a mafia boss. Because nowhere except in Thai BL do we have a mafia boss who, instead of subordinate mafia members, runs a center for bodyguards.
It's not about hypocrisy. I think it's more about nuance and context. Some problematic behaviours can be tolerate…
To me, KP is many things, but it is not a dark series about the mafia. It is more of a telenovela that had a very funny ending. And as much as I follow IG, FB and other social networks, all three couples show as romantic relationships with the comments: Where is my Vegas? or why can't I find my Kim? Or VegasPete as a happy family with their child (currently it's Phayo) If that's not proof that they look at toxic characters through pink glasses then I don't know what is.
You say that toxic things should not be romanticized, and I agree with that, but whatever series you watch, irrelevant bl or not, you will always be able to find something toxic if that's what you're looking for. As I already said, I'm not defending MaMe, but there are a lot of comments addressed directly to her. If the first sentence starts with: I don't know what I expected from MaMe, then the comments are directly against her and her work. And I ask again: if you don't like Mame and her series, then what are you doing on the page Love in the air? Criticism is one thing and empty words that are repeated every now and then are quite another. I'm in favor of calling shit by its real name - shit. But I'm definitely against writing it (even if I don't mean it) just to "prove" myself as a good person and fit in. You may have noticed comments like: "I know this is not a popular opinion, but I'm in the minority..." Ok, first we're looking for attention, no matter which side, because we'll always find some like-minded people when we start writing about why we're in the "minority". And then, after a few comments, we turn into critics of toxicity, because we love those slightly lighter series, it doesn't matter that the series is bad and stupid, it's all great because there is no toxicity. 🤣🤣🤣 MDL has turned into a strange place...
I mean... I can't talk for others. But from my perspective, I can enjoy how ridiculous and entertaining this show…
No one supports these things, but TT is not the only series that had these problems, and yet people are full of hatred for MaMe and TT. If you have a problem with an author/screenwriter, why do you keep watching her series? The answer is simple. Just so they can write toxic comments. And I say again, the same haters glorify some series that are much more problematic than TT. To be clear, the TT scenario is full of flaws, but nothing worse than 85% of the Thai bl series. But we're still here, watching, commenting, sometimes we understand each other, sometimes not... So we're all in this vicious circle, but as soon as someone starts to preach... please don't... I'm always for freedom of speech . If you like something - write, if you don't like something - write. But don't judge other people, don't spill your hate and frustration. Don't treat some of your complexes here. There are experts and institutions for that. (this does not refer directly to you, I am writing this in general, just to be clear). I've been on MDL for years, I remember some things well. But so many negative people showed up and spoiled the vibe. Now, whatever you open, there are a bunch of comments that are anything but criticism or an objective review of the series. Basically, the entire MDL part with BL series has become toxic (the exception is the team that wrote on the Triage page, everyone there was wonderful and understanding)
I saw the most hypocrites in my life at MDL. When TharnType was shown, most were enthusiastic, but then a wave of BL fans appeared who started writing very aggressively - this is a toxic series. They were very loud, they always had the same comments as if they were copying from each other. And then this year, some very toxic series started to be shown, and suddenly these same people were delighted. Relationships that are the epitome of toxicity have become for them the epitome of romance. Unfortunately, it only shows us how much these people's words carry no weight. I'm not defending MaMe and her work, far from it. But if you say that her series are the worst, I have to say that they are not. The BL world has many worse series, with many bad scripts, actors, with very stupid themes and with couples that are so bad that I have no comment. And yet nowhere is there more hatred than when MaMe series are mentioned. Love in the air could have been a summery, relaxed series. But unfortunately it is not. Many writers fall into a pattern and their stories do not progress, but we see that they still manage to find sponsors and money for filming.
I (still) don't have a problem with the story itself, (because it's the beginning and we haven't seen much) but I have a problem with the editing and the flow of the story. The editing is terrible and the story has as much weight as the comments of these toxic BL fans. The acting and chemistry between the main couple is not even close to TharnType level. Rain and Phayo are cute but just that, cute. And for all these TharnType haters out there, what can I say, much to your chagrin, that series has launched two careers that are shining in full force. And even after all this time, you can't forget them.
Since Rain and Phayu had 104 seconds, I won't say anything more because I don't want to look back on the plot that we still don't actually know anything about. But here's how I imagine it in my head:
Rain and Kim are vampires. And while Rain is a pureblood Kim's mother was a human being. The couple who pass themselves off as parents are actually part of the council of the Ancients who, for the sake of living among people, together with Kim and Raina, pass themselves off as a family. At the same time, their role is to raise Raina to the throne, because for centuries there is a prophecy that says when a Half-Blood falls in love with an angel, the vampire race will come to an end. Sun is an angel who unfortunately is slowly losing his Light because he has been on Earth for too long. In order to rise again among the Purple Mists of the All-bright courts, he must fulfill his role in the prophecy- he has to get a Half-Blood to fall in love with him. Phayu is a werewolf (must be because of that moustache) his bloodline was almost exterminated and the few that survived were forced to work for vampires. Wolves only have one a partner for life. Phayu knows that Rain is his destiny. Rain's scent is the only thing that can turn Phayu back into human form when the moon is full. It is a secret that the two of them share. Rain has always been in love with Phayu but he is aware that their relationship would mean death for the only person he ever loved. That's why Rain pushes Phayu away from him, aware that he is causing him pain...
Oh yes, I agree about Changmin and JH... Changmin is definitely playing game, when he rejected HJ I thought he finally put all the pieces of the puzzle together, but he constantly seems to be missing one piece. And JH should put all the cards on the table. Because the situation repeats itself, if there is some misunderstanding , JH is silent, Changmin makes excuses and then JH turns out to be somewhat immature (although he is a baby, he is only 21 years old and maybe not very experienced) and I don't know how Changmin perceives all this. Does he think : ok JH is angry because he cares about me or oh God why is he angry now?
And they are really visually a cute couple to see.
If this is the first day , Hyeon doesn't know what's going on, he's testing the field, I would say ok, see if you can do anything. But this is not the first day, he was close with Jeonghyun, but still jumps in where he shouldn't. He did the same thing with HyukJun and Eunchan. Where did Hyeon's interest in HyukJun suddenly disappear? It means that wasn't even there, I think he is someone who likes to play, so he lost his compass along the way. Although I liked him in the beginning, as silly and hyperactive, now unfortunately I have no sympathy for him. And I firmly believe that Hyeon has no chance with Changmin.
I can't stop thinking about those bars in In's room, as if they say that each of us is in our own prison. The only question is whether we remain closed in the dark by our own will or we still strive for freedom and sunshine.
I like how Changyu showed his very mature side both in the situation when Hokeep showed the letter and when they were in the kayak. He kept quiet about the letter (I sincerely hope he didn't cry) and didn't make a fuss, he remained calm. And the conversation in the kayak was: I'm going to say what I have so that I don't regret it later - and I really respect his decision.
And Hyeon could learn to read the situation. He hurt Jeonghyun like this for no reason. Because it was obvious that Changmin was not interested in the slightest.
when i heard the intro i was like it aint about race boys and dark themed ??? should have been rock and not pop…
The beginning was promising, trucks, tense music, drone footage, two characters sneaking around. Everything is like something tense, secret, mysterious... and then pooof la la la la la la la like I'm watching the beginning of Teletubbies.
been more humane if they "thrown" us into the hands of Vegas dressed in a raincoat...
