Well, the beginning isn't that great and the girls are dressed very unusually and revealingly for an ancient Chinese drama. 👀 But so they keep the audience watching. And I'm watching for the ML. ♥
This drama is a hidden gem. It's hilarious and for a short drama really good. In ep 3 physician Li's eyebrows deserve an own drama and in ep 4 the auction of advertising space ON horses is so funny. And there were even VVIP tickets for it.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And now give Wang Xuan & Zhao Zheng Dong another drama without any girls. Their bromance in the drama is amazing and their chemistry is chemistrying. ♥ I watched all dramas of WX. But this one... ♥
Sorry. I'm really sorry. My expectations after RL and ABO Desire were high, and I'm deeply disappointed. I've seen countless Chinese dramas. Good and bad. And this... no, this is not my cup of tea at all. I couldn't get into the storyline at all, and the acting is more like reading from a script than speaking freely. The make-up effects are really bad and those terribly done nails of Shuhe and Duan Ziang. Guys, we're in 2025 and you can fill in your nails with gel and make them look really real. It doesn't have to be that your nails have grown out at least 0.5 mm. That's not possible in a good drama. You can tear me apart for this. But it really wasn't good. I'll give episode 3 another chance. I hope for a huge improvement, because sometimes handsome men aren't enough to make a drama worth watching.
The only facts I understood clearly are that a young woman, ‘the imperial consort,’ was murdered and that the search for the killer is underway. The father of the dead woman is obsessed with immortality and brews various potions to achieve this. However, he tests these medicinal drinks on others. He has two sons, one of whom is quite masochistic and tortures his wife, who also has an affair with her father-in-law, and her brother-in-law is also in love with her. And the investigator Han Dao has some kind of thing going on with Yan Shi Yi, who is also a suspect. And whatever the two of them have, I like it. It's that bromance feeling.
