Well, just my opinion but i think its a great series. Very innovative with the bronze era issues. But i really like fantasy.
The first season is great, all the cast is amazing, SJK was incredible good i think it was one of his best works. Just for one specific scene alone, if it was a maistream serie of course, he would have gain some nomination or emmy. This second season, The Sword fo Aramun, i dont know how to explain but in some aspects is even better. The main actors are great. The 4 main leads are doing their job. If im being honest im not a fan of Shin Sae Kyeong work before but i think she is doing good here. LJG and JDG are incredible. No words for their work. This series is really underrated. Its a shame.
If you really dont wanna watch the first season watch a compilation in youtube. There is one. But its a very intricated story you will miss something.

here We can understand where this ruthless Tagon come from. We understand his struggles, his necessity to be loved being an igutu, his will to be loved by his father. But this doesnt erase the things that he did and the decisions he made.
For example, a serial killer could have past traumas but this not erased or excused the murderers he did.
We understand Tagon, he is a complex character but he IS NOT A HERO. Im sure everyone was rooting for him when he was saving Arok. But most of us understand that he could not be the King or deserved it.
You mentioned the first episodes. He was not trying to protect Arthdal. Arthdal wanted the Moon Plains. The Neanthals were doing anything wrong. He executed his plan, killing an entire species including his Neanthal mother. He killed everyone who could be in his way to power. Including mother, father, friends, adopted son ( that he kidnapped). He subdued and enslaved entire tribes for his project of Union.
People in Arthdal dont know the entire process even dont know they killed their Sanung nihuna, his father. They think he is Aramun reincarnation. Now that he assumed that he is Tagon it will be interesting to see.
