Delightful and so cute!
The Story of Bi Hyung was so cute! Its an easy breezy watch from start to finish. I loved the way the show incorporates so many differnet aspects of Korean folklore. I do think it might be hard to follow if you're not familiar with the folktales of gumihos or goblins and such, but having watched like a bajillion Kdramas till now, I was super familiar with these concepts and could keep up with the story no problem.
At first, I was like, omg is this going to be a BL harem show, with 3 love interests for the male lead, cause those are really not my jam. Thankfully, it was not that. Its pretty clear from the start how the 2 pairs are going to end up at the end. The story never takes itself too seriously, and the romance between the two couples is very cutesy. Keum Bok and Bi Hyung do share 1 really good, passionate kiss so I am happy KBLs are doing more and more with genuine skinship with each production. I loved the actors who played the 2 leads: one as the cute and loveable village boy who brings so much charm and naivety with him and the other one a "1000 year old" goblin, cynical, sarcastic and constantly irrirated but with smiles that are reserved for the audience only. The acting is not like oscar level or anything, but this story does not require it and so the leads do a good job conveying their characters.
ALSO- I LOVED the character of Halmeoni, the school girl who is also a minor goddess, who has to keep dropping pearls of wisdom and constantly sort out the chaotic shenanigans of these goblins, gumihos and ghosts. LOVED her. She was superb! Female characters in BLs rarely every stand out, so this one really shines.
This is such a fun and easy watch that I recommend it hands down!
