"God do I hate people who smile all the time"
:'D, i can totally feel you chingu, like how do you even get in the mood of smiling all the time? XD I usually avoid overly cheerful people, something's wrong with them lol.
"a rude main male lead who becomes nice by the end because love(?)"
I remember when i firstly started kdramas, and i was like "aww love can change you". 1,5 year and 90 dramas later, i'm so over this shit! XD
Omg, i loved this review, so small and to the point! It was nice reading a different point of view for a drama everybody loved. I have this on hold for almost a year already, i don't know why, i didn't have a problem with the first 4 episodes, i just wasn't invested :x.
MDL, as a community, is biased towards rom coms like that, rom coms generally get overrated here.
Liked it or not, you can't deny that this background song is just addicting and so easy to listen to! <3
The background music soundtrack in this one was exquisite!
The drama was short and sweet. It shows that there is no reason to me shy and timid. All you got to do is believe in yourself and the people who love you for who you truly are, and you don't need anything else to succeed and be happy.
Seohyun got this quirky cute act down, she suited her role. Recommended to rom-com lovers as it's really sweet and cute. Enjoy!
It wasn't really possible but i'm gonna say it anyway. Episode 2 was even better. :O
How do they come up with such creepy cases? The cinematography is also on point making the whole thing even more intense and it's obvious that i'm gonna have a very hard time with those freaking cliffhangers.
Are these cases really based on true events? :O Even creepier!
I'm not into OCN dramas usually, but this one got me hooked!!
First episode was thrilling and emotional which is a good and rare combination. Jang Hyuk hyung was amazing as always, but Lee Hana surprised me since i've seen her only once in the past and i've been avoiding her ever since. I don't know if they can keep this up but i sure as hell hope they will. First episode was flawless.
Thank you, this helped a lot! I should have mentioned that I have actually seen Hirugao and loved it, so I was…
You can't imagine how much i agree with that statement. Infidelity is my favourite drama theme and koreans just do it so well.
If you're into this type of drama, you'll love my man's woman i'm sure. One of the best infidelity dramas i've watched in kdramaland.
Most people would hate mindlessly looking just at the surface without actually delving into the characters' mind. Doubtful if they even understand the goal of such dramas. They don't ask viewers to subscribe to the idea that adultery is something positive; they just show what it is exactly. Why hate adultery dramas and not hate crime dramas? It is beyond me how people have no problem to watch people getting killed for fun but adultery is off limits somehow...
And then again not everything is black and white, people just like living in their pink fluffy rainbow cloud and will hate everything that isn't perfect. How can you hate such realistic dramas when life itself isn't perfect, i wonder. These dramas shine because of the depth of the characters, but will forever be underrated because people only see cheating as cheating. Thus the severly underwhelming and unfair 6.8.
I just think people think cheating is more likely to happen to them so they hate it subconsciously like a coping mechanism or something or conforming to the unregistered society rule that "everything about cheating is wrong". Well murders are wrong too, but everybody goes wild over how hot >incert hot actor here< is in >incert popular role here< if you know what i mean.
Great review, well thought out, a lot of details...ugh really really good! But how would this compare to Hirugao?
Thank you for mentioning Hirugao. I've been meaning to link the two dramas since they are indeed similar.
Both dramas focus on the ugly side of affairs and they are quite pragmatic and realistic. I rated both dramas with 9.5 meaning i loved both, but i'm having a hard time choosing which one is better.
First of all, Hirugao was only 11 45-minute (more or less) episodes meaning it is smaller and more to the point. My Man's woman is a long 24 70-minute episode drama therefore it is bound to have some slower or boring episodes/parts along the way. My Man's woman also had some side character with their own side stories too. Both depicted the repercussions of affairs and more or less adressed the same issues in similar ways nonetheless.
What's More, in My man's woman there is no real romance. The affair exists since the very beginning, and there are no romantic scenes, at least not what you want/expect to see, i would call that lust more than romance i think. Hirugao had some kind of romance, the way you see the relationship bloom, while watching the characters' doubts ect. This made it easier for us to get their mentality too, my man's woman was more neutral.
Furthermore, Hirguao offered better excuses for the character to enter the affairs. Even the 2nd female lead who seems completely shameless in the beginning, you understand her, or at least see her point of view by the end and you feel for her, at least i did. In My man's woman it took me a lot of episodes and a lot of effort to understand the characters and even when i did i could never excuse them. Bottom line, My man's woman was even more harsh and brutal than hirugao.
Lastly, and this is important. My Man's woman was very intense, intense in every way. The fights, the emotions, the doubts, the quarrels, the self-hating, family matters ect. This was what hirugao missed. In a crazy situation like an affair, i expect the characters to fight, cry, act crazy in general. In Hirugao everything felt very calm. My Man's Woman is crazy even when it is calm.
In the very end it depends of what you want to see. I would recommend both, but i think Hirugao is easier and faster to watch. My man's woman is deeper mostly because the characters get more time to develop and the situation, because it is quite immoral, is immensely complicated once you get to see everyone's perspective.
Between the two, it's a tough choice, i loved both, but i would say My Man's Woman was better because of the deeper characters. However, it's a marginal win, i was never bored with Hirugao while there were meaningful but slower episodes in my man's woman.
I hope i helped and not confused you even more XD
Maybe this will help more:
I said I possibly liked My Man's woman more, but Hirugao was 9.5 since the halfway mark. My Man's Woman was a 9 till episode 21. It was mostly the tragic ending that made me pump my rating up a bit because it just put everything in perspective.

They do look spotless together somehow, wow!
I found the movie sweet but weak story wise and quite boring, still worth watching.

10 episodes in, i have a serious love hate relationship with Ji Hoon. I dislike him, but he is the best character :o

Subbed :)
