I understand your point I really do and I wish I could agree because I so badly want to cheer mahiro on. But honestly this time he's the one who hurt souta not the other way around. He never gives souta a chance to properly talk about his feelings and allow him to be confused about his sexuality like a normal person, but instead he just convinces himself that souta doesn't feel the same way even though souta never said that in the first place,
There is nothing I hate more than a misunderstanding trope it feels so cheap and overdone, and the misunderstanding is always something dumb like one of the leads catches the other embracing a person and straight away storm off without actually rationalising it. ALSOOO mahiro is driving me bonkers with the whole 'he's not like us, he's not like you and me' aka 'he isn't attracted to men'.
Just because a person is confused about their sexuality and wants to make sure doesn't automatically make them straight, I wish mahiro would at least allow souta to feel confused about his very valid and very real feelings. Just because mahiro is comfortable and sure of his sexuality, doesn't mean everyone else will be too, and we need to give each other the same respect and understanding that we want to be given to us if we were struggling about the same thing because we're all on our own journey.
All in all, I just want both of them to stop being imbeciles and actually sit down for a proper chat without running away each time some real shit goes down or one of them gets serious.
Damn it must've been rough to hear that speech from souta about how he imagines him and mahiro growing older together and marrying different people and even having kids. I agree with a few of your points actually that's why I'm planning on rewatching it after a while and seeing if that strings the story together better. I think right now I'm still a bit high off the adrenaline of seeing them being happy lmao and the fact that no one died which is rare for gay media. My life feels so empty now and my wednesdays so meaningless like what do I even do with myself at this point 😩 what a healing show, they handled the queer coming of age aspect and falling in love so freaking well. Honestly this might be unpopular but I don't want her to end up with anyone, I think that she's spent too long of her life being unappreciated and taken for granted that what she needs is not another relationship to get wrapped in but instead to be single and focus on her career and wellbeing which she's neglected. Her kids are grown ass people who can take care of themselves, her son is very likeable for the simple fact that he supports her and his worry for her is justified and genuine, I just wish he'd stand up to his father for treating her like that. Her daughter on the other hand has a lot of growing up to do, hopefully that gross entitlment will be the first to go. I also really hope they don't try and make it into the trope where she gives her lower than rubbish husband a second chance after getting him jealous and making him realise what he has with her (which I think is what they're trying to do now).
