The build up of this drama seems boring bcoz 1st no love interest of comedic partner to entertain the audience during build up which until ep 13. Now its done this drama is gonna be an enjoyable-chenyi signature roller coaster ride of emotion. It will attract more audience. Love the fight scenes and pastel costumes btw.

As far as i read here the complaints are all about the review of unreleased episodes, like how can they rate of 1 star from ep 13-40 if not targeting the drama, if not biased, if not haters what it is called? the latest update is only ep 12. Why so invested in the show you don't like ? If you don't like it drop the drama and move on the next one you like. And mind you its obvious your taste of drama is different from others, so respect others also that love this drama despite its shortcoming. And if it is a trash what Cdrama not a trash in your taste, care to drop one. To say it is a trash by only 12 ep even avenuex will not dare to say it.
Drop a drama name that is not a trash that is better in fighting scene than this drama.

ChengYi fans No worries, int'l viewership and opinions hardly affects the overall ratings of the drama, TJOL already topping all charts in China. Xiao Qiu shui tops drama character for 3 days straight. But MDL comments and ratings is not based on popularity of the actors it is always on drama (script, storytelling, CGI etc) itself. Even bailu lausi and hedi and other S list actors dramas received criticism here so let it that way. Just rate 10 that would be enough.
And for the haters, let it be they are always like that, that's why when their idol drama received criticism they attack the commenter regardless of.... I know them well, their idol that's has average talent in acting can't match ChengYi ofcourse , coz CY is on different league from their idol so they tried so hard to vote down this drama.
These producers are really something! Only in China my gosh! In s.korea when big star leads definitely the drama is big budget , editing script directing cgi are the best! But in China big star are just being used to gain profit with less effort in the production. Just like feud, this drama is ... They want ChengYi to carry the success with less effort in their part. So many emotional scenes fillers, dragging bad editing , cgi, even directing. Wasted of talented actors, focus is not on their craft but on profit.
What I'm afraid to watch next is dark river - because they might adapt it popularity to bleed profit but failure to grasp the essence.
Sorry to rant but ofcourse I will watch this drama till the end regardless of the story to quench ChengYi drought for 2 years.
What I like about cfy drama is that it is always meticulously crafted with so much effort in the production, the advantage of backer. Hope CY also will have that, the most talented actor of cent should have that privileged too.

As a ChenYi biased and a cdrama watcher i already enjoy the 8 episodes, However i understand these 8 ep is building up the story. no rush since this is a 40ep wuxia drama. And this is i guess a dual role of chengyi and other will appear in ep 9 so i think the excitement will start there. With no love interest and getting serious after ep3 is also risky in a drama and the supporting youngs stiff faces didn't help either. I guess the director knew chengyi popularity will handle it.
in the TBOY and MLC for example - both drama had no love interest but the beginning there were Lei Wu Jie and fang dou bing to entertain the viewers. Here no one, its supposed to be Liu Sui Feng but i don't know if the actor understand his role is a very interesting one that could bring him to stardom but it seems downplayed to me.
when i watch currently earing dramas, i love to go to mdl in comments section for opinion. And my observation is lots of dramas showed this 2025 that somehow interesting, watchable, some lack acting skills, some short in storyline but in the comment you wont see such negative feedback for just 1st day 1st 6 episodes. But here on first day you will see so many negative feedback immediately, some new created account as well. So we knew they are not for the drama, they are here as hater. Coz i guess the reason is they think that Cheng Yi is a rival of their idol hahaha. Gurl they are not on the same level in acting with your biased. You girls are so ambitious to think they are. Even if to sound like constructive criticism, it still obvious you want to degrade this drama. Well dream on. Those cdrama watchers won't stop watching it just because of your "feedback" .

Well, we experienced CY drought for a long time, we don't mind if it is slow fast whatever.. One thing for sure he will able to deliver what his character is asking. no forced acting, just a character came to life. That's it. just enjoying the show. I saw many dramas with fast face storyline no fillers but the down side of that actors can't go deep into their character, no build up just rushing to the end. Sometimes slow means building up and it is also good.
This is not just massacred his family and he is saving the day, automatic the hero and go on destroy all enemies without build up of the story just action and emotional drama, just like eating tasteless food.
After a long Chengyi drought finally! its refreshing to watch as usual. The effortless of delivery is truly Chengyi signature. You are not watching an actor acting but a character comes to life. You can simply enjoy it coz CY would take care of it, if is sad, action, happy, nonchalant whatsoever he gives.
I'm satisfied what the heck 🤭 Chen Feiyu so handsome in the last 4 episodes. I don't find him this handsome before but man he is so in mortal realm and modern world 🤤 the first look and last look made me rate this whole drama 10/10.
I'm a chinese xianxia wuxia drama watcher since the journey of flowers and i dropped alot of popular drama halfway but this drama i rewatched earlier episodes coz of waiting daily ep and even read the novel before express still anticipated it today. Now im happy waiting for cfy and cy incoming drama rumored to air this september.
I will be rewatching this few more times and moved on, waiting for next good drama chinese production could offer.
Finished reading the novel to alleviate the torture of waiting. usually i lost interest in the drama after reading the novel, but man im not, coz novel is good but light, i like the depth of the drama interpretation. I like CFY interpretation of character, i can feel his love, his hurt and his no-emotion emotions.
