Giving MZY the needed push to take a step ahead towards WZ
He was going to go separate paths and was going to end things completely after the 'almost kiss'. He was on his way back but returned when he encountered PJY and found him fishy. He came back to the Duke's residence to prevent PJY from harming her. And only in the face of death, again caused by PJY, did MZY confess to her.

Haha right. The makers knew in this kind of story it would take time for the leads to get that close, and the viewers would be waiting so they added one as an imagination early on. People seem to be unhappy about that too 🤷🏽♂️😄

The time when he waited for her to come back after she dealt with the grey elder rat demon, was so Yang Hua-like.
But at other times I see glimpses of his other characters in MZY too, like Fuca Fuheng, Bai Jue, Dongbo Xueying, even Ding Yunqi. Which isn't a bad thing, it's certain aspects of MZY's character that are similar to these other characters.
Today WZ would've seen MZY use his powers, but this time the scent suppressed his skills.
They're really delaying this one, seems like it'll be a much bigger deal when their indentities are unveiled. Unlike Mei Si, they made him know LTZ's much sooner since his reaction was supposed to be too calm.
