Such a good show ,watched it one sitting,kept me on the edge ,those 1 hr episodes felt like 30 mins tbh... Ive never watched the fl in anything before but she's good and KKH as always delivers .. 9/10 Hope they'll be a second season.♥️..
We really are starved for Good kbls or at least above average bls in general right now that people will call anything a MASTERPIECE 😭. I came here yesterday saw the rating 8.3/10,I said wow this must be good and esp since kbls don't have such high ratings here on mdl,and also the many comments praising how amazing the drama is and good acting. Well I'm back here now and I've gotta say expectations is a very bad thing.I am disappointed! The storytelling is mediocre,the pacing felt rushed in last episodes and the acting was just normal. Another thing I couldn't fell any chemistry with the MLS .more scenes btwn juha and Do Yoon would have been good too. Overall it was just a norma average kbl,but see I had high expectations seeing as this drama has high rating here than;( Semantic error,to my star,the eighth sense,our dating sim,sing my crush)these all being at least largely agreed among bl watchers that they are good kbls.
Pretty faces though,but in my 4yrs of watching BLs ,I can use more than just a pretty face ,like a good storyline which focuses on the heavier topics at hand( e.g this drama had an issue of internalized homophobia which was just rushed over),a good script ,better directing and pacing and most importantly good acting.. But with the audience praising and gobbling mediocre productions from these companies ,I guess we still have a long way to go before we see good quality kbls and not just once in a blue moon. Okay this is getting long,In conclusion this drama wasn't that it's bad like starstruck level😭,I just feel the high rating on here(8.3/10) doesn't really match the drama Personally I'd rate it 7.5/10.
To emphasize,I know we as audience are starved for better kbls or any kbls at this point tbh ( see we r already in April and we've got only 2 kbls so far this yr)BUT that doesn't mean we should just consume the bad products thrown at us happily .

Just finished the 32 episodes of this drama,and it deserves a higher rating than just 7.9 on here ...MDL ratings can be harsh sometimes. Maybe not as good as " strange tales of tang dynasty", my fav historical detective drama but still good.
As someone said below,it maybe due to lack of "pretty boys" that people are used to seeing in Chinese dramas and the lack of cheesy romance,but for me ,a good plot and acting in a show matters more than just actors looks.and those calling ml "unattractive" idk what to say,maybe I just prefer men who actually look like men and not men with makeup allover the faces and lipsticks redder then a woman's( it's like they are trying to be women or sth)😭but that's s just me The fl sidesick was annoying at first but she grew on me... Can't wait for s2.
Loving this drama so far , currently on ep 17, and the pacing is good,the cases are solved at an understandable pace too not too fast not too slow, I like the MC Di Renjie, the actor does a good job....his girl assistant though not so much ,she comes off as bratty sometimes just for the sake of it;.. Waiting on Netflix for remaining episodes

And that assistant is just pathetic at this point ; I mean his tricks ended up creating a scenario where miyata and senpai having some steamy and hot good time 🤭...talk about helping ur enemy...but hey ,I'm not complaining though
