I read the novel and he was more important to him than a big brother. half of the story is about taking revenge for his death.

but the guys were Chinese in to my shore and they speak Chinese in the novel, too... here they are from Hongkong and can't speak mandarin. it's an artistic choice I support. should the actors have at least tried to pronounce the words in Cantonese to make the dubbing more seamless? yes.

for Liuyi it was platonic love. he hasn't discovered his sexuality yet. he knows he's not into women but got abused by his father.
