So how can he punish her harshly ..? but he cant let her go either, since she poisoned his whole court , though not life threatening ... So some form of punishment is due... so she herself offered to let go her job and princess title making it easy for emperor to alleviate his court officials anger ... and she herself wanted in addition to let go of her marriage decree t0o , as her actions have consequences , though not fully carried , or though no harm befell the court officials . ... her marrying into Xiao family may befall social consequence if not life threatening consequences. on Xiao family..so she was trying to protect Xiao family

ML has no right to interfere just because he fell in love with FL and wants to marry her. she spent her whole life searching for the villian , and when she found him and wanted to eliminate , ML in his naiveness ,wanted to take him to emperor, and not take law into her hands. what he suggested was perhaps right in normal circumstances . but those are not normal time or involve normal people.....
..., a prince ( emperors real brother) can be massacre with his family , colored as traitor with absolute impunity ... and her letting such a villain go , may actually land her life in huge risk in future, ... here ML is not factoring emperor's role if any, role of politics , factions , leverages , empress 's role ... so many factors come into picture and not only justice may be denied , her life may be in danger .

ML feels huge let down by FL . but no one asked him to love her deeply and feel let down if she cant reciprocate at same level. 15 years living in a certain emotion , he wanted her to abandon it and appreciate the beauty of flowers , and moon 's calmness... can she?,before or now, knowing someone out there reduced her whole family into dust. ..

what ML was attempting is protect his own love , and yes, wedding (a normal boring wedded life that every one lives and aspires for ) that she possibly not ready to give now or ever.,..

she kicked him out and ignoring him , rightly... he messed up everything, 15 years of her effort.

don't think he is incompetent , he is also trying to survive... but still pulling strings to balance powers in his court to better his chances . what FL suggests will be counter productive to him , his rule and the country. he can no way pull the rug from a power ful minister overnight . ..

so why wouldnt the emperor punish the right chancellor? because emperor was used by him in the massacre process .. that emperor was made a fool would take away the sheen off his rule. also, other reasons he mentioned also hold true, sometimes it siimply not possible to make a swift move - like imprisoning or executing since he is very powerful , and his faction may end up creating big ruckus , and the opposite faction may end up with full power without a counter weight power.

best way for emperor to deal with a situation like this is , to slowly reduce his power and making him irrelevant (checkmating his faction) while encouraging a new faction as a counter weight move.

also, now that it is out in the open that he (right chancellor) killed prince duan (and not that prince killed himself and his family), it is not totally cake walk for him in the future either.. he has huge uphill to walk..

As for Empress, just as emperor hadnt punished right chancellor , he hadnt taken any significant action against FL as well. (other than stripping off her titles and job - on her recommendation only) ,--given this empress being right chancellor's sister lost all her leverage with emperor and FL . FL is emperors niece (her father is emperor's brother) - what empress's brother committed is regicide . that self imposed restriction to cold palace could be strategy to win back her leverage or may be genuine .. but FL naive trust in empress can hit her back if empress is not innocnt in her family's masaccre...

i suspect even if emperors want to maintain loving relationship with his spouses , sometime it is not possible. since most of the time main wives come from powerful noble families. each with their own agenda to make their families next only to emperors , and sometimes more powerful than the emperor himself. and these main wives (or the main consort) leads the harem . Her or emperor dowager rules the harem - where emperor may not have a lot of influence sometimes. so fate of his less influential wives and children born of those wives is in the hands of influencial wives. the more emperor shows importance , the more that wife and her children are in danger. poor emperors himself might be struggling in court, mostly may not have a partner they can confide their worries in, without alerting her clan of any potential opportunities in emperors problems. In the available influence , emperors do their best , and if the one running the harem is good , all emperors children do well, if not , power centers get built and there is literally a war inside inner quarters .. with only the smart ones , surviving the ordeal using many tricks to not outshine or be overtly visible....

what will he gain out of this? it says general (death) or king (loose power ) will get harmed due to this new star/planet alignment... unless he is working on behalf of whoever was the king (present king or his father)

She may have lost her family but FL is surrounded by many like her teacher who really adore her .. her teacher , wanrue , her staff ..ML

FL and ML both saw the eclipse .. which was supposed to make them unlucky. dont know if that holds , but it really turned unlucky for FL. But for ML, that same thing ensured he lived . else he may have died in that pool , if FL was not outside to save him. and that ensured ML research what is the astronomical event that is bothering her parents, and his finding about it saved her life...

So as per astronomy predictions , either a General will die or the Kingdom changes hands (king looses his crown!) . if King knows about this prediction, would he love to lose his power or OKs death of his brother or son (based on who was king then , the present king or his father). .. who else would gain otherwise with death of FL's father - who also happens to be brother of current king ... all fingers point to Present king or his father or Consort Shu (if she wants her husband to continue to be king... i dont think any of them will be nice if they were to loose their power.. they wont mind sacrificing FL's father to maintain statusque

this is a very good series. the story is interesting too. wonder why the rating is so low.

it showcases show biz darkside without making it too dark .
the only thing i didnt understand is FL's stand that SML doing a lot for her (taking hits , compromises ) to pave a smooth path for her. both SML and her best friend cum agent must really love her insanely to put her needs ,tantrums above themselves , protecting her from dark side of show business . one fine day she realises that is not correct that they didnt tell her how far they were going to protect her and says thats not love ... and want to break up with SML... am sure 99% women would rather be with such a guy who would protect you from all evil in this world than allow you to suffer in the hands of evil. Other than this part i enjoyed the series , good that FL is adorable and story interesting , else FL role may have ended up being annoying. FL's best friend Lin Rue is a real gem and if there is true love in this world she is the epitome of it- she gives up SML when she realises her friend FL likes him and as their agent protects them with such fierceness - doesnt feel jealous or hatred towards either ..what a sweet lady.

As far as ML is concerned , i think while they were in school atleast 2 times ML turned back the time. once when something happened to her (dead?) and another time her mother is dead?)... when she went back she realises her mother is dead. but when in furture her mother was still alive. possibly that miracle happened because ML turned back time to save her mother. also, they keep showing her lying in ditch dead/almost dead in school uniform so possibly he saved her. and she doesnt remember him or their friendship or puppu love because ML was her 1st love , and something happened that she ended dead and ML turned back time and stayed away from her . possible saving her in the process. so by turning back time - she no longer has memory of her lovestory of her with him. his love story is also as sad and pathetic as SML . he loves her insanely as well but cant accept her to protect her from his crazy brother .. something about this series is very appealing

ML's father was so worried about FL's background. But he raised 2 snakes under his roof - that he is not aware of.. his maid and her niece , what snakes. i wonder why lu qiao doesnt like the elder brother. (is he not true heir , an adopted son?)if she wants the money, he is also an heir , right? he likes her, seems his losing his leg is related to her. are these not enough to fall in love with him. am not against her loving ML , she has a right to love anyone she likes. but the underhanded techniques she uses makes her unqualified to marry ML or his brother. Both are kind and good natured people. Maid and Niece have benefitted from this family's generosity, but still trying to harm the family , for its wealth. .. am shocked at her audacity? pretending to be an owner more than ML or his family

Yea,...i thought marriage will happen..i know ML was disappointed with turn of events, and am more disappointed than ML... but it was a good call by FL.
marriage at that point meant she may be forced to abandon her investigation into her parents deaths.. her love for husband will make her drop thorough investigation or anything that may implicate them..
