If they can hit 1 billion views in a week, they will be keeping pace with Eternal Love of Dream, and well within…
SO, so happy for this show, but I don't reckon thats possible-the first 500 million is well, damn-but the latter half is hard to fill up. Either way, good to see the numbers go up so exponentially.

Now I'm completely updated on the drama, I must say I'm so happy the last few episodes show a lot more into Yu Tu's inner feelings and his turmoil/struggle. I also actually really like the slow-burn aspect and how they are friends first as it seems a lot more realistic. I also love the dynamic between the characters, and it's interesting to see two people who have quite different personalities from usual drama counterparts, and also to each other, yet they really bring out the best in each other and help each other. For example, how Jing Jing loves her shopping and her lifestyle and Yu Tu's dream is in space and aviation, yet they don't bother each other's careers, and yet Jing Jing is also very sensitive to the feelings of people around her and Yu Tu is rational and considerate. It seems like they'll have a great relationship. (As someone who has not read the novel, I really hope this is not the drama that will go down a bitter path with a couple with a bunch of love/hate).

Edit: Forgot to mention, I'm so happy they didn't spend 10 billion hours on flashbacks of the past-seriously great from a viewer's perspective.

Why does someone always get sick (cancer, tumor, extreme leg/arm injury, etc) in these dramas man~

Edit: I gotta say though, thank god, thank god he actually told his family early on unlike other dramas (I understand the whole guilty feelings and not wanting to burden the family thing, but seriously it is so tiring to watch)

Also, they are totally highlighting all the bad things about chasing for his dreams around Yu Tu, haha-
1. Family should have more money, can be more well taken care of
2. His family and future family (wife, children) may not be well off emotionally/mentally with his busy career and absence

Damn... that episode 9 talk about megastar's salaries really surprised me, I know they touched on this a bit earlier, but I didn't expect them to actually ask that-this is super interesting for a show to talk about this especially at a time where the huge debate against megastars' earnings is on fire right now, plus the number of scandals it has hit in the past year.

Edit: I wonder if this has to do with the real-life conversations about this though, since it did start from last year. Anyways, good thing, scriptwriter. Expecting some weibo hashtags about this lol.

Regarding any issue about ratings, honestly, I'd personally rate a drama after I have finished watching it or when I have dropped it~so I think it's interesting people keep rating it on the way (though I agree it's helpful for people to check if it's worth watching). Also, I do agree with there being people randomly rating, but at the same time, one's opinion does not constitute people not being able to bring up issues about the plot/pacing. Tbh ratings don't have to validate one's love for a drama.

So I stopped at around episode 4 to first finish the webtoon, and now I’ve finished, I must say the show probably made Jae-Eon a better person than he was in the show, but I loved the bigger focus on Nabi’s overthinking and insecurities in the show. Just visually judging the cast now, I do think Han So-Hee was well casted, but my impression of Jae-Eon is that he had more of a gaunt structure and deep-set eyes (in the way that he might not be intensely handsome but he was very attractive and charismatic), which I kind of didn’t find Song Kang to be (not hating).

Anyways, the webtoon was quite open ended and realistic and I hope they keep the same tone here, though I think a hopeful ending (for Nabi) might be more appropriate.

Yang Yang and Dilraba's official CP name is YangDi!!!
Haha, in China there’s a literal comedian called Yang Di with the exact same characters (that is, if the yang is Yang Yang’s surname)

1. They were already acquaintances in the game. 2. YuTu went to fix the purifiers personally for other customers…
Oh, thanks for the additional info!

Yeah I wasn't too keen on that either. You know how that would look if the roles were reversed but with dramas…
Haha, I didn’t think about whether the roles are reversed. For that scene, I felt a bit iffy but there’s also this kind of running gag in China about high EQ and Jing Jing is obviously very close to his wife-From a kind of Chinese cultural standpoint it’s funny but obviously it’s better if she actually gave him a gift.

Not really-Actually, Yang Yang hasn’t come out with a lot of work these few years. I also think ten cent has…
Sorry, ok I know for numbers it hasn’t flopped per se-in terms of internet reactions in China though, they definitely have not done well. Of course, netizens are only a part of the population and for viewing figures it has still done well, but not as well as dramas last year-there hasn’t been smash hits (and in China, even Word of Honor’s hit was not as big as people say)

For example, there might be okay viewing figures, but take ancient love poetry for example in comparison to say, 2018’s ashes of love, or 2020’s love and redemption (I’m just comparing it to similar genres)-it’s not nearly close to the popularity of which it was anticipated and planned for.

That’s what I mean-no hate in anything ofc.

Is it just me, do you find that YAMG has a lot more marketing than TLB? Does YY have really good resources?
Not really-
Actually, Yang Yang hasn’t come out with a lot of work these few years. I also think ten cent has had quite a dismal first half of the year with their most anticipated (to become very popular) shows kind of flopping, so if you see more marketing, well both of them are huge stars and I’m pretty sure it makes sense to capitalise on this show (it’s been quite long awaited).

Random thought:
Anyone think that the opening is really cool in episode 1, and the aesthetics/quality is great and a lot higher than other romance cdramas, but the theme song (and the opening credit shot) is a bit eh? I just felt the cropping out the background was a bit weird, but I really liked the whimsical backgrounds the put in-maybe it would be better if they made it all cartoon. Either way, opening credits aren’t that important.

Also, as someone who doesn’t play (I think the English translation is) honor of kings, I honestly did not understand 70% of the first ten episodes lol-but I mean the backdrop is pretty obvious and nothing beats watching two beautiful humans on screen.

I know. My big deal with it is big what happened later, because I know at that time there are no qualms. However, as for the process she’s telling him, there’s also that additional detail about her parents being home and all of that stuff which I didn’t get why was necessary. And honestly my issue is with Yu Tu’s safety because Jing Jing obviously knows what she’s getting into but not him, as to him Jing Jing is but someone he plays games with online, and so their reach of each other is only to that extent. Either way, I only meant it by passing and as a warning and the show so far is enjoyable enough.

Yes but he knows that she tricked him when he got there...She knows that yutu is a tough guy, so she just wants…
Thanks for giving me insight to his personality in his books,
though I would say that his book personality doesn’t necessarily translate on screen. However, I think it’s kind of lucky that Yu Tu’s forgiving and not so easily rattled. He also only knew he was tricked when he arrived. Also, we know apart from everything Jing Jing’s other motive was to see his face. I also can tell from later episodes how his mind works and how he’s mostly calm and rational. So I was a bit confused on how he would not get an alarm bell from this incident, though I suppose his knows Jing Jing well enough to think otherwise.

It may seem manipulative to some though I feel it's more like she's trying to outwit Yu Tu as he has a passive…
I know where you're coming from, but this comes from an audience's standpoint where we know about these two people. In real life, you can never know. Being comfortable to play games with them does not equate into being comfortable to meet them. I know she's a celebrity and she understands his personality-we also see from later scenes that she is sensitive, so I know she doesn't consciously try to be manipulative. However, this scene would still come out a little awkward.

Agree! She basically manipulated events to get him to come over. Not the most comfortable reasoning to get these…
I agree-though Yu Tu might have helped his classmate and come over personally, he doesn't know her like he knows his classmate-how she looks, what she does, her intentions-so it makes sense for him to send others over, and not just an argument about how he had helped others before. I actually did not notice the product advertising, maybe because I kind of just turn my brain off to those moments now? Also, I thought it was hilarious how they put the advert as a weibo post Jing Jing advertised-like an advertisement in an advertisement. I do think the whole megastar concept really makes for some more creative product placement. I do love her more different personality and job.

I agree, Jing Jing is an appealing character-actually, I stopped the video when Yu Tu was about to see her and came to write the comment, so I'm glad it worked out (gosh, if it was awkward it would be hard to watch). I also agree, we don't see much of him, and now I've watched forward I definitely know a lot more about why he feels (but I suppose the beginning just didn't give me anything except for that initial scene about leaving his dream) so his little expressions in reaction to everything seemed just, unreadable. Haha, everyone talks about the giant tech commercials and I think it's basically a commercial for China's aviation/space industry but honestly I'm so used to it I didn't even pick up on it until you all mentioned it.

I love Dilraba, and I'm sure her character has a lot of pros, but in episode 3 when Jing Jing basically tricked Yu Tu into going over to her house under the false impression of fixing her air filterer, that was not cool at all. I know this is kind of a way to let these two finally meet, but it's not cool to trick someone into coming over to help you when you don't take their efforts/sincerity seriously. (Especially the montage of him walking a bunch to come over)-I understand she doesn't know how to directly ask about him and she has her status as a celebrity, but also, just realistically, how does that leave a good impression?

As people said, I kind of like how she's the stable one in life and Yu Tu's going through a midlife crisis, but I also see literally no aspect of personality in Yu Tu so far, though I love the aesthetics and the plot.

Title Vincenzo
Taecyeon has improved a lot as an actor, and is able to hold out in some of his scenes. Still, he's not as good…
Each to their own. I wouldn't say Joong-ki is an amazing actor, but I think he held out his own for Vincenzo, especially for particular scenes. At least, I think I ate into his character as we went along the series, and I think his acting also reflected his better grasp of the character as the series went on.

I'm completely out of context but as a French person, I'm obliged to watch this drama in English on Netlix since…
I actually interpreted 'layer' as in clothing-shedding their clothing, as in them sleeping together. I didn't think it'd be that suggestive haha. He'd said 'sincerity, so I thought they'd probably just had been together and gone on dates but not real, physical intimacy yet, like taking the next step into the relationship.
