The other day someone called me an imperialist because I criticized the Chinese government’s censorship in an article from this site about a straight C-drama. I made that introduction just to say that this kind of fan service isn’t part of my culture, so I don’t really care about it what I want are good acting and good scripts. But trying to put myself in the shoes of a Thai citizen, I get that to work in BL an actor really has to prepare for something extra…

Really... for me, this fan service thing is just a way for companies to avoid paying actors what they deserve (which is also why I think they hire people who are already rich), and it also means that actors have to keep giving the public updates on their personal lives.

I don't think Sarin and Sapol were too keen on fan service and the CEO of gmmtv has already made it clear that he would only invest in couples with high engagement, unfortunately people behave like soccer fans and only watch the BL of their favorite couple even if the script is horrible.

I didn’t even say anything about those domestic scenes, but I get why people criticized them. It’s not about a guy doing the dishes that’s not the issue it’s just that those scenes are boring to watch. This isn’t MasterChef, so why would I want to see someone washing dishes? It’s just filler.

So I meant the same thing as you, but I asked about the West because I watch Cdramas (from China, obviously) and there it's clearer, those stories where the actors wear long hair (historical stories from China) that people call wuxia, and they practice cultivation, training always has a master. Here in the West, people practice judo or karate, but at least here it's not so popular that everyone understands it, so the most popular figure of a master would be a teacher.

I don't know where you're from, but I'm assuming you're Western. We really aren't used to these stories about a master falling in love with their student, mainly because for us it brings to mind a teacher with a student, which is always problematic
