as someone who is not really here for the romance - I enjoy the hell out of that drama. It gives us so many complex characters like XFF, Shen Yurong, RuoYao, Ji Shuran... Not one episode or scene made me ever lose interest.

His character is hard to analyze about what is going on in his mind. But I would really like to know the story about how he got close to the princess in the first place.

Shen Yurong is one of my favorite characters in this Drama, because of his complexity. I was rewatching the scene in episode 1, where he reports to the princess that he "killed" his wife, and I'm in awe of the actors portrayal in those scenes. The Agony. The Guilt. The Helplessness.

As much as I ship FL & ML - I also hope Wu Jin Yan and the actor who plays Shen Yurong (Ex husband) will have another drama together. Their chemistry works also really well.
