he is tanned/ dark skinned has nothing to do with his bad/morally grey character. It is because the story takes place in a 1990s mining town. Its a small rural mining village so there should be a lot of dust pollution air pollution going on. Plus they spend a lot of time under the sun- whether its the mining worker, police workers or chen hui. There should be a lot of good/nice characters in the drama who are also tanned- especially the mining workers and the police officers. Plus the police dad actor is also tanned, so its more of a character requirement to match the environment and time period. it does touch some steroetypes, but not the american racial stereotypes. Its the chinese/small town/1990s/middle class/poor/ mining stereotypes i personally don't see it as problematic, honestly it has never occured before(dont come at me if anyone does)- maybe coz im not american
xukai said that for this drama he only had to apply some tanning products and dark makeup which took like 4 minutes (he's exaggerating). Plus he's not the palest actor. He sometimes has a hint of tan especially on days when he's filming outdoors. One thing is that he is confident in his looks. He looks good in any angle with any expression, and if the character requires a certain look, he's the type to adhere to them

Forget about international, even Chinese fans are pissed off by the production team for not doing marketing. So far all the buzz about this drama is from the fans of both sides. The drama team has literally done nothing, no announcements, no posts on Weibo, douyin, no hot searches bought. There’s only a bunch of marketing accounts posting release date melons but release melons are more on the platforms side. It’s all the fans who are doing the marketing themselves. When the production team doesn’t announce a drama, it limits what fans can do. They don’t even care about their own audience so I doubt they’d care about us. At least I don’t have high hopes from this production team. As for us- a lot of people have been using Yi ouchun and a cup of love/a bowl of spring. It would be better if we can continue to use Yi ouchun on top of the new name so that existing fans will know that it’s just a changed name.

the chinese title is still the same 一欧春. It is quite common for the chinese titles to not translate the same. for example the chinese title for legend of the female general is 锦月如歌 which translates to The Moonlight Song (using Baidu translation)
