I think it started with Yanxi palace. Yu Zheng first approached Kai in 2013 but he rejected. Then yu zheng approached him again in 2016 July ish which is when Kai agreed. Kai signed with Huanyu is 2016 August and kept doing support roles. In 2017 he took on Yanxi palace coz he was the only willing one to shave his head. He exploded in popularity 100 times beyond YZ’s expectations. So YZ had to use him to cash in some money and make his “obedient artists” popular. I remember when XuKai signed in 2016, he brought his girlfriend back then with him. Realistically, when did a newbie had such power? Why was huanyu so desperate for a male rookie when they already had SWL also? My guess is that YZ never liked/cared about XK. Hence the rumor in 2019 to elevate costar. If I’m being real he probably lost a lot of fans back then while the other party gained so much just from the exposure. He literally hard carried his 3 2019 dramas which was a humongous feat for a rookie. It was the golden opportunity for YZ. Look at the resources the costar got after the scandal, work with all top male actors. While XK got bad scripts. Then comes the 2021 ALP and FIYS slander. The amount of black marketing on Chinese socials were apparently insanity. Then comes the 2022 dec issue with another huanyu artist. This was after 6 and half years being with huanyu. YZ strikes again to elevate the newbie actress. Then comes 2023 SEL bad editing and STD rumors. In 2024 XK had an extremely successful year as an actor despite bad marketing being rampant so they had to go big in 2025. I hope huanyu and everyone involved get their karma

I’ve been wanting to say this since forever but her fans are rabid. But these type of things are known by everyone who works in the industry, marketing sector etc. Her fans may deny it and brainwash passerby but real insider’s who were there back then knows yu zheng’s tactics. She herself probably knows.

Still need approval from the hainan state government and the NRTA. Controversy is a non issue now and is being resolved legally, as two of his dramas got licensed in December. Youku released this under their 2026 most anticipated list so hopefully it’s soon.

Speaking of Huanyu (again). I recently came across a post on Weibo (unfortunately I can’t find it) and it was about how his agency uses him to market other actresses. Companies like huace and many others prohibits their artists from dating (which I don’t agree with) and if they do, they make sure the dating talks don’t cause trouble. While on the contrary, huanyu’s strategy is to use it to create buzz. Starting actresses just need a buzz whether it’s positive or negative. The company has used Xu Kai’s privacy to create a name for other actresses in that agency so people will recognize their names and some people will even become their fans. The only loosing party here is Xu Kai. It’s beyond frustrating how yu zheng treats him.

Judging by the producer’s track record, he always announces his drama and release materials right before the airing (approximately 1-2 months). So on a positive note- if they announce this on weibo, that means the schedule is confirmed and won’t have to wait long for this to air. This maybe a good strategy in an era of the industry winter where many dramas perform averagely. Keeping viewers waiting and waiting by too much preheating is not a good option. Fans can wait. But passerby’s forget or may loose interest. If they announce the drama, both passerby and fans won’t have to wait long enough for the drama to air. They can do marketing gradually over the couple of months before airing. So keep it positive
