Greasy = oily acting is when actors do kinda too much especially in those romances. A lot of short drama acting comes off as greasy. There’s no clear definition to it coz it’s how a viewer feels. Most of the oily acting happens when holding eye contact, doing a flirty scene. These scenes require a balance of emotions and expressions to be shown without doing too much or too little. And that balance requires skill which xk has. He’s not cringy in ABAY and BCE given how dominant, cocky his characters were. I don’t know how to explain it, but basically it’s the “overdoing of acting which makes it cringe”.
Is Yu Zheng sucking up to Xu Kai? Has XK always been in that position or did it happen over the past few months?
He probably does receive good scripts. But the final decision is impacted by scheduling, the crew behind each project, connections, impact on subsequent projects and the company itself, costars he wants to work with . There’s so much to choosing a scrip and since some wants to screw him up , he ends up with the lesser good ones.

And you realize it when people talk a lot about Han ting and Yao zhiming a lot, especially their traits, depth, goods and bads, how they are written- and NOT how greasy the actor is, which is why a lot of actors stay away from CEO roles. Not once I saw someone (including haters) saying XK is greasy. I might have not come across any hater posts but I don’t remember anyone saying that.

His shows have high profits as in they get so much revenue from mediocre scripts that would have otherwise flopped so hard if it was another actor. They cash in so much from him by giving him scripts that otherwise couldn’t even get started. Also he doesn’t market himself which saves millions and millions of yuan, hence high returns.

Yeah. Seriously no other actor would survive such an attack. Like no one. And to say that XU Kai only gained fans and didn’t lose fans, says a lot. I’ve seen on rednote people say how they were just casual drama fans of his and after the attack they became full-on fans . This made his weibo super topic more popular also. And these are not only teens, these are middle-aged woman, some who proudly call themselves “mom-fans “. To be honest, I think Xu Kai’s Chinese fandom majority is middle-aged women who has their life oriorities straight, so it’s really hard to break the fandom no matter how anyone tries. They are not like teens or early twenties who throw a fit in the wake of a scandal (I’m 20 myself). Plus almost all of his fans are from his dramas, meaning people have watched his work and liked it, not from marketing or even variety shows. His growth is by far the most organic in the c ent.

in a normal case, it sure will. Coz the artist then has to sort out what they are gonna do next. Whether to go independant or go to another agency. If its the former, then they have to open a new agency and start from scratch- hiring workers, building connections, basically everything. If its the latter, then they have to find a good agency that works well (which is kinda hard ngl).

Man I so badly hope they stick to the script I read without cutting anything or adding more nonsense. I keep hearing that they haven’t filmed a lot of xukai scenes. But I hope it’s just jealous marketing accounts who wanted to spread the word that the prod team is cheap (which is an indirect insult to the actors)
