This drama has more than 1.5m reservations, third highest currently. A drama with Cheng yi has 3m+ finished filming last October and another with song zuer at 2m+ which will air in April or May I think ?( defo before MR) . So MR is one of tencent’s most anticipated it’s like of their profit guns maybe. So to maximize that, they have to make advantage of the schedule. Summer vacation is when students become free so so many good dramas do come out. So far June has a lot of rumored dramas, one with xiao zhan, will make a lot of noise regardless it’s good or not. Therefore just how youku did with first frost (schedule it during less competition to have more people focus on ff even though they knew ff will explode), tenceny or any company will save their best for the best time period.

This genre is defo popular. I think it’s coz they r super silent. They reached 300k reservations within a day or two after releasing a trailer post wrap. Since then, it has been dead silent. So I think if they release more stuff, the reservations will go up, especially when it gets licensed or when they announce a release date. Currently it’s barely hanging in the youku’s top 20 reservations

I think it’s secretive coz they are still figuring things out. Like the directors changed, platform is changing, filming locations are multiples, etc. Ngl, it feels like they are cramming to film this asap in spring. 800 meters announced the official post right when they started shooting, but they were not secretive about it coz rumors came in when FI was wrapping up. I don’t know about new rumors so I’m guessing it’s the drama with ZY. Also there’s nothing from ZY’s side, coz at least xk is spoiling that there’s a costume drama happening.
