Another quick comment. For me, the plot is not that great and perhaps acting is not like 'wow' but somehow, YQ (Song Yi Ren), Deng Chao Yuan (QS) , their roommates, classmates, even Ling Wei and Song Si Yi make the drama enjoyable. I know people can't get over SYR's petite size but she can't help her physical appearance. I have watched her dramas beginning with Ever Night and she has that spark which makes you enjoy watching her on screen. She has a very expressive face. Her male leads seem to shine next to her (Ever Night, Flavour it's Yours, Best of You in my mind and now Professional Single) Looking forward to her future projects!
In defense of YQ. She has a soft heart and because she did not want to hurt LW (after realising that she suffered from depression), she had asked QS to not let everyone know they are dating. Of course, QS is not happy about this but he is indulging her. Later on, you will find out that YQ realises how her actions have affected QS but you need to wait until Ep 20 (I think) In the meantime, enjoy how the secret dating is also affecting YQ and making her more jealous. LOL.
When we reach the final two episodes, it was then I felt the opening song was perhaps not the best choice. SIGH. I lived for the moments that they were in the town, not the palace intrigue.

Even though the back story as to why he is so cold to her is not made explicitly clear, it is somewhat addressed later on in the later episodes. But she still did not give up trying to get QS even after they have announced their relationship. Ep 22 was really satisfying because he finally rejected her in her face after the mud pit incident. I really wanted to smack her when she was still trying to say to QS that he must not really care for YQ if he didn't tell YQ about his home problems. *SMACK*
As a woman, I did feel a pinch of sympathy for Ling Wei when Qin Shen obviously ignored her at the camp. She is really manipulative as in the case of using Yuan Qian's soft heart to get closer to Qin Shen and making YQ have doubts about QS. Even pulling in glasses boy into her tricks.
So I watched the episodes 22-30 raw, I'm extremely disappointed :(
I actually just want to know how it ends. SIGH. Need to look for dramas which don't have this 'forced love' type tropes (2nd leads). Now, just crossing fingers it's not a tragic ending.
Ep 26 So this is the thing with Chinese dramas (I presume) - how is it that if there was a passionate night, they are still wearing clothing the next morning. Did something really happen or not. SIGH. A long way to go.
Ep 22 - Progress for the hero but not yet for the heroine. IS it going to continue when the heavens seem to be conspiring against them getting together. SIGH. I did not expect that to happen at Ep 22 and throw something tragic to keep the secret from being revealed a little longer. Sometimes this is the problem with many episodes. I skimmed through to Ep 30 and I feel nothing much will happen until the final 2 episodes. SIGH. The hero is growing on me though, if that's a positive.
Hmm.. A lot of differing opinions. However, I loved the drama. Yes, it could have satisfactorily ended at Ep 30 BUT I consider the 6 subsequent episodes as a bonus. (except for the whiplash that was DL) I think DL never changed in his aim - which was JJ. He was after her even when he was 'helping' YS with her father's case. When he revealed and insinuated that YS and JJ may have conflicts of interest with that press release, in a perverse way, he wanted JJ to look for him to 'save' her from the whole scandal. Instead all he got was the JJ was determined to leave and JJ being disappointed with what her 'teacher' had done. He was never going to be a Qiao Na, who moved on. And some of the best speeches which happened between YS and JJ occured here. YS was being his overbearing and overprotective self, suggesting JJ resign and she gave a whole monologue about why he thinks she cannot be strong - and this led to their cold war. To me, it was quite a realistic look at couples - couples argue, fight, disagree but int the end, they need to learn to compromise. Half and Half = Whole. Personally for me, the weakest link was XuLi - she's great as a friend, but I shook my head at what she did before she got married and after she got married. I am satisfied with how the drama ended. I hope Luo Yun Xi and Bailu will be able to work again together someday. See you all in other drama threads!
Up to Ep 4 and I have to feel the spark! She does seem to spark off better with the SML. But it's too early to tell. Sometimes I want to shake Li Qing Liu and tell him to loosen up a bit. Haha.
Up to Ep 3 and I am enjoying it so far. Just how much of a coincidence that the ML overhears what the FL is saying all the time. LOL. For me, the story matters a lot, not just the visuals. I have dropped some dramas because even though the leads had visuals, the story was meh and acting was meh meh. I like Ireine Song. For me, if I don't like an actor/actress then I won't watch the drama. Simple.
