On Till the End of the Moon Oct 22, 2025
I just dropped « Love in the Cloud » , which had finally managed to pull me out of my C-drama slump. (Not a bad drama at all, just not really what I was looking for.) Everyone said it gets better later, but honestly I enjoyed the beginning more.
And it’s in moments like this that I’m reminded of my true love. There’s really no second TTEOTM. 😭 Like… the very specific dynamic between the leads — the fact that Tantai Jin is ACTUALLY guilty, kind of a villain, and there’s no “female lead discovers he was innocent all along” twist. You still end up feeling for him and understanding where he comes from, but he DID those things. They were ennemies AND lovers. Ayeeee, someone please erase my memories or show me another drama like this, because I’ve followed every recommendation out there, and none of them have that very precise dynamic I’m craving. TTEOTM was really scratching something right in my book-girly brain. 💔

I kind of fixed my mind that way cause there is always atleast one over-the-top-never-makes-sense like fight scene…
I’m actually fine with Ga-Min being an unbeatable superhero, but the other fighters deserve some respect, please 😂. It’s just the way he takes the guy down in 23 seconds while there were four great fighters—and this whole setup with Ji-U coming back and Sun-Cheol’s friends rushing in to help—and they’re all there for… nothing 😂😭. Not even a single punch, just for Ga-Min to swoop in and save the day. It feels like a disservice to their characters, lol. But hey, at least my boy Lee Jun got his win!

its based on a webtoon about this kind of comic fights and ga min is super powerful like one punch man in that…
I know it’s based on a WEBTOON, which is why I asked WEBTOON readers if I should adjust my expectations. Until these last two episodes, I still thought Ga-Min might actually struggle in a fight and was anticipating a challenge with these “big boss”—but I guess now I know, lol.

To WEBTOON readers: does Ga-Min ever actually get his ass beat, or is he just some kind of One Punch Man? I’m fine with all the other unrealistic/comic effect stuff, but I have to say, these two last episode, Ga-Min being super powerful is starting to feel a little old for me. If you told me I should take it as a One Punch Man-type story, I’d be fine with it, lol. It’s just that I didn’t realize it until now, so I need to adjust my mindset.

It’s mostly because I feel like other characters don’t get to shine much in fights because of him. I mean, there were four great fighters against this electronic prison bracelet guy! Just a little damage, and then Ga-Min could’ve stepped in to finish him off or something. But instead, they didn’t land a single hit, and Ga-Min fixes everything in 23 seconds?

It’s the same with that other guard he just knocked out (though that one’s fine because Ji-U also beat him up, so I guess he wasn’t that strong anyway). Still, it takes away some of the tension for me knowing Ga-Min will always come in and fix things in one minute. At least make the fights a bit longer and more challenging! 😭

You’re right, but there’s a subtlety. In this dorama, the cliché elements are used in a way that turns them…
Yes! I will stick it out until the end, my hopes aren’t totally dead yet. As you said, I’m waiting to see how everything is going to be settled and treated. I really hope it can surprise me a little bit because I feel many other things are already becoming predictable, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in itself, but I personally don’t like the feeling of ‘I know this, I’ve seen this’ 😔
On When the Stars Gossip Feb 2, 2025
I’m always baffled (and mad) at how K-drama writers can take the most original and bold concepts and end up turning them into the most cliché, déjà vu scripts ever😭 Like, just because it’s set in space with an original concept, awesome CGI, and dares to show bold things, doesn’t mean it’s actually that good or groundbreaking . That’s why I don’t agree with people who say that those who don’t like the drama are just ‘romance cliché suckers’ or ‘K-drama fans who only live for the tropes and cliché stuff.’ There’s a lot of bad reasoning behind this drama hate, but personally, for example, I was really excited about this one. The first episodes had me doubting but still hoping, as someone who’s NOT a fan of the typical K-drama tropes and romance. But as always, I got cheated by the ‘concept’ angle. It was the same with people selling Queen of Tears as not your typical romance drama or something, and then I was like, ‘Is this the first K-drama they’ve seen?’ when I watched it😭 A lot of dramas have original ideas and concepts, but at the end of the day, it comes down to the script and execution. And honestly, this drama is mostly (not entirely) just your classic soap opera—love triangle, romance, rich guys, blah-blah-blah déjà vu storyline—with the same old tropes, just dressed up with a different visuals and vibes. But in the end, for me, it’s all about the script, and it’s pretty basic and fell flat. I’m kinda disappointed but glad it’s working for so many people in the end, despite the complicated start!

I keep saying it screenwriter etc. in k and c dramas are just not good enough yikes
Thank you! I never understand the whole “Asian dramas are so much better than Western ones” thing. Both are super flawed, with writers who don’t respect us that much, I swear 😭

Er you want to read up actual news articles about how bullies bully in S Korea? You cannot discount another's traumas…
Omg, this community is just so weird and extreme—like, what? Read my answer to the comment before yours. It was a joke, a boutade, nothing that serious. You’re talking to a Black woman from the ghetto, and I don’t know if you’re one too (since you seem pretty upset), but if you are, you’ll know we use terms like that as jokes all the time! You know, like the classic “If this was a Black woman in a horror movie” or “If this was in America” kind of jokes. That’s what it was about here!

I wasn’t even implying that violence or suffering in Korea is less severe because they don’t have guns. Is reading comprehension really that difficult? Was the laughing emoji at the end not enough to set the tone of my comment? Where did I ever discount people’s trauma? I was clearly talking about the context of the show, which portrays school gangs in a mostly comedic and over-the-top way. So why—why—did you take it so far, lecturing me about school bullying in Korea or the seriousness of violence there? Did I comment this under King of Pigs? Did I comment this under The Glory or D.P.?

What in my comment made you think I didn’t know anything about it? WHAT in my comment made you read “Omg, Korea’s violence is nothing because they don’t have guns” instead of what I actually meant: “Well, thank God they don’t have access to guns because, seeing the level of violence here, some teenagers would’ve already been shot if they did.” How is that not the takeaway?

And for the record, when I talk about realism it’s because yes, the show exaggerates—it’s like Weak Hero in that way. And no, that doesn’t mean I don’t know about South Korea’s violent or “dirty” sides. But still, for example, even though Korea does have serious drug problems, it doesn’t manifest the same way as in other countries, right? So, yes, I know there are real issues, but if I see a tv show portraying something like Memphis-style drug deal retaliation, I’ll ask how much does drug problem in sk DOES look like the scenarios we’re seeing? which is different that SK is not violent and Sk doesn’t have a drug problem cause it’s SK. Is it clear now? That’s all I was saying!

I can’t believe I have to break this down like I’m explaining it to a 4-year-old, but wow. I would’ve made the exact same comment about any other country’s TV show, and people might’ve educated me (like, “You’d be surprised by some sides of France” or something), but not in this condescending, “You probably romanticize Korea” way you all are coming at me with. It’s not that deep! You’re the one who need to hear that Just because it’s a K-drama or about Korea doesn’t mean we can’t make a joke about a COMEDY classified show and everyone has to overreact like this. Relax!

Just because its korea doesnt mean its some fairy wonderland that you see in your romance k-dramas, in real life,…
Wtf? I know. I’m not even a K-drama romance fan, lol. I haven’t watched any of the recent romance ones, except maybe 2 or 3 exceptions, because that’s not my type. So, you’re addressing the wrong person. I’m definitely not romanticizing Korea as a country in any way. I could’ve made the same exact comment about any other TV show—whether it’s French or something else with a similar plot—because I’m talking about the premise.

As I said, it’s the same as Weak Hero (the webtoon), which is grandiloquent with the school gang stuff. This might reflect some kind of reality, but it’s like watching a vampire TV show and wondering, “Where are these kids’ parents? How is this even happening?” It just doesn’t make sense. You immediately jumping to the usual discourse with Korea, especially after seeing the other comment, actually gives off the vibe of, “As soon as it’s about Koreans, we must react in some way.” It’s always one of two extremes: either the romanticizing take or the “stop romanticizing, koreaboo” stance. There’s no in-between.

Okay but what in the ghetto? Fortunately the setting ain’t America, some shotguns would have already killed at least 3 characters cause WHAT. I am actually wondering how realistic it is (obviously i know, NOT a lot) but weak hero (more again in the WEBTOON) had the same kind of premise also, so is SK hiding some ghetto side we don’t really know about?🤣😭

It's not cheating if it's for science purpose 😆
Cheating: when a person in a monogamous romantic relationship has an emotional or sexual relationship with someone else without their partner's consent. There’s no mental gymnastic to it . If they don’t breakup their relationship whereas they don’t like their partner or in a toxic relationship or trying to to figure out their feelings, it’s cheating. If it wasnt then it meant many cheaters in the world are in the right. Now imo people should just get over it or drop the drama but still ,they are based.
