The character of the mother, sometimes caricatured, is part of a centuries-old dramatic tradition, for example in Europe. The mother in "Pride and Prejudice" in the BBC series (I haven't seen the film), is an example of a character with exaggerated features.

ouch 7.7already disheartening. I hope the ratings are wrong and it's a good series.
Don't take ratings too seriously, especially if they are based on the first 4 episodes out of 36. Ratings based on first impressions are hasty, without any informed critical appreciation, and many people give a low rating because they hate one or more actors or for fear that their idols' dramas will be surpassed or forgotten.

Again copyright infringement, C drama maker never learn from the past mistakes?
Although there are several cases in which copyright is not respected, either through ignorance or consciously, there are others in which, for a variety of reasons, such as advertising or fandom wars, the most ridiculous suspicions of plagiarism are raised, with the production teams having to prove their innocence. Not all accusations are true.

So Go Ahead had a love triangle between the three? I definitely won't watch that one.
Oh, the "Love Triangle"! It seems like we see love triangles everywhere. What sets a good drama apart from an average one is the ability to question this stereotype and remember that human emotions, feelings and relationships are not geometric figures nor can they be limited to them. And Go Ahead did it very well.

To say that there is a love triangle in Go ahead is to not understand the entire drama, to not understand the complexity of the human feelings portrayed there and to not understand that life is NEVER in black and white, but involves many colors and gradations. As there isn't much to criticize in Go Ahead, the original cdrama, the pretext of the love triangle, which isn't even a love triangle, is used to make the Korean remake superior, by having a perfect ending with everyone in pairs, forgetting that feelings are complex, they lead us to question them and try to understand them, and we don't all have to find our love-passion at the same time, because in life there are many bonds and loves, beyond romantic love.

SOOOOO GLAD THAT THEY CHANGED THE STORY IN THIS VERSION. skkshkkskajjkk 😭 of course, Go Ahead has its own charm…
Life is not perfect, but it is wonderful. There is a path to be followed by each of us and we do not all arrive at the same places at the same time - places of bonds, of love, of professional growth, of marriage... - There are doubts, confused feelings, options, growth personal and bonds that are being built with our lives. Making everything too perfect in a drama is not making a masterpiece.

Title Go Ahead

Perhaps I didn't explain myself well: it's not a love triangle, but a simulacrum of a love triangle, not being the center of the dramatic action and arising from the confusion of feelings and advice from friends, which happens quite often with us. Therefore, we don't have the obsessive love triangle around which all the action takes place, but moments that make this drama even closer to the human emotions and feelings experienced by all of us. Finding a romantic partner for everyone and everyone ending up happy according to the "norms" is what would make Go Ahead a banal drama, not celebrating the life and unique paths of each character and each one of us.

It's not about being controversial. We just have different opinions and we expressed them. For me, there is no classic love triangle, we can even see how the drama "challenges" the rigidity of that concept and how it can be wrong. All the best!

But i felt FBC is too good when compared to this esp when the 2nd brother try to love the FL! I really didn't…
Everyone praises the absence of a love triangle in Family by Choice. But in Go Ahead there is no annoying cliché love triangle. Yes, there are moments of confused feelings on Ziqiu's part, which we also experience in our lives, but which are clarified. Furthermore, it does not end with everyone in pairs, happy couples, but it reminds us of the complexity and uniqueness of each life, which we should celebrate in communion and bonds of love. Ziqiu has the right to walk and his encounter with love-passion may be further ahead, far from our eyes...

It's obvious that this is a complete remake of Go Ahead, therefore I don't understand why people keep claiming…
Yes, we always have to give credit to the original! If there are versions, it is because the original has quality and is unique!
Go Ahead does not have a dichotomous narrative, of happy couples, but it highlights the unique human complexity of feeling, thinking, walking through life, integrating and sharing bonds of love. There are no clichés in life.
Unfortunately, due to ignorance, many people are already out there accusing Go Ahead (2020) of being a copy of Family by Choice! And that is very sad.

This show was really good when it was focused on family dynamics and the parents/kids relationship. Then the time…
Love triangle? Go Ahead celebrates the unique human complexity of feeling, thinking, walking through life, integrating and sharing bonds of love. The characters are not flat nor are their feelings and reactions. And that's why Zi Qiu is not a typical love triangle rival, because he's not - what he feels, what he experiences, is sometimes confusing, but it becomes clear and resolved, as often happens with each of us. And not ending up with a partner doesn't mean you're unhappy and a poor thing. There's a long way to go and there are no clichés in life. And that's why Go Ahead is a masterpiece, not ending full of happy couples, because a life fully lived is much more than that!

It is a bit funny, because they are essentially just talking amongst themselves. For everyone else, for whom this…
When any country makes a version of a kdrama or makes an adaptation of a novel/manga, we read many comments comparing the originals or the Korean adaptations with the versions/different adaptations. Many of these comments are quite unpleasant, always devaluing non-Korean dramas, even if the commenters have NEVER seen them, since there is a culture of only Kdrama, which blinds them to other realities. However, these comparisons are accepted, and there is no indignation. When it is the opposite, it seems that kdrama fans get offended, as if they wanted to forget that Koreans also make remakes, that many of their hits are also remakes (do some research...) and that there are originals from other countries of great quality, which, as with all originals, are better, precisely because they are the originals.

For Those People: who says the Chinese version is far more better then the Korean one who told you guys we are…
Of course. Everyone has their own opinion. But Go Ahead is not a version; it is the original drama, with an original script. And like all originals, it brings new approaches and narrative sensibilities. The only version here is Family by Choice, which, like all version, is based on the original.

I don’t understand why people torture themselves by watching remakes of their favorite dramas, only to constantly…
There are many Korean remakes that are almost "copies" of the original dramas... and there are also many remakes of Kdramas that are only inspired by the general theme/ideas. Koreans are no different from others. It seems that it is not accepted to talk about it. And it's not the Koreans, because in Asia all countries do remakes and there's no problem. But there is a type of fan who only watches Korean entertainment and ignores the rest of the world and does not accept criticism. And let's face it, some of the biggest Korean hits are based on original Chinese, Japanese and Taiwanese ideas. Just do a little research and give credit to the creators.
Finally, many of the people who are now outraged by the comparisons are those who rush to comment on Kdrama remakes, rating them negatively and accusing them of plagiarism.
All this confusion results in comments such as those that accuse the cdrama A Love so beautiful of being a blatant copy, when, in fact, it is the original and premiered 3 years before the Korean version. (and just to clarify, I'm not referring to you, of course).

No one cares about your essay about Go Ahead; we’re here to watch Family by Choice. The fact that you are passing…
Whenever remakes are made, there are comparisons! Or is this new? Or can we only criticize dramas that are remakes of Kdramas? There are many, many comments out there from Kdramas fans accusing the remakes of copying and plagiarism, completely despising these dramas, which is much more serious than making comparisons, even if only 2 episodes have been released.

This drama is good - so far 8.2 rating.
The actors' performances sometimes seem forced, unnatural - for example, in the scene where someone asks Haejun about his mother.
Replying to daezy Oct 11, 2024
it's actually so ignorant of people to expect the drama to have the same pace with the original, i can't stress…
Whenever remakes are made, it is normal for there to be comparisons. Just read the comparisons and criticisms that are made when other Asian countries remake Korean dramas. Why does it have to be different in this case? Can't people express themselves?
And by the way, a drama having 40 episodes of less than 45 minutes each doesn't mean it's boring and of poor quality. There are many dramas with 16 episodes of 1h/1h20 each that are very boring. What matters in Go Ahead is the quality of the narrative, the depth and sensitivity of telling the story, a story of bonds, of affection, of happy and less happy experiences, which lead us to look and learn what it means to be a family, a concept that implies sharing, forgiveness, compassion, intimacy, love, trust... and that is where we belong. We'll see how the Korean version does this. But the original is always the original!
