I should stop commenting on the Nielsen ratings. It takes all the fun out of every show. It also makes every comment that I post annoying and it gives the impression that I am forcing my opinion on other people. Prior to TKEM, ratings were never the talk of the town. An equally annoying development is the introduction of PC/cancel culture. There are so many comments trying to guilt talk a person for liking a politically incorrect drama. It seeps out all the fun that people have watching a fictional story. These are definitely bad developments IMO

Understood... No, my first comment had nothing to do with BR. Nielsen has now a separate rating for Psycho Part 1 and Part 2. So the average is 4.955% for both. I don't know why they measure the data like this nowadays. They used to merge both ratings together.

No, that is not the color I want to add. You wrote in one of your earlier comments "yes if the conditions are like this too, Kingmaker: The Change Of Destiny also still has the most significant rating drops.." as a response to my first comment where I said that Nielsen nowadays has two ratings for Psycho (one for the first 30 minutes and one for the second 30 minutes). Prior to that comment, I never pitted dramas against each other. It was also not my intention...
I did not really understand what you tried to say with that comment, but it looked like you were trying to say that there were less viewers watching dramas overall on a Saturday. I tried to debunk it by saying that there is still the same amount of TV viewers, but they watch something different (most likely BR). Pitting the ratings of Psycho and Kingmakers is difficult as they air at totally different time slots. You should pit Psycho against the first episode of BR and Kingmakers versus the second episode of BR or Graceful Friends.

To be fair... I seriously doubt that there is still such a big difference between cable and public broadcasts. The times that public broadcast were doing 40%+ are over. The times that no one had access to TVN or JTBC are also over. In fact, in recent years TVN and JTBC have repeatedly reached 15%+ (equivalent of 30% at cable), whilst public broadcast definitely did not reach these numbers. Their highest peak is 27.1% for Doctor Kim 2 in 2019-2020, whilst TWOTM reached 28.3% at JTBC. Mr Trot on TV Chosun did even crazier numbers. I think cable definitely has similar reach as public channels, the difference is definitely not that large as it used to be.

Actually, I think BR is one of the lowest in that timeslot at SBS, even lower than TKEM and perhaps even lower than Nokdu Flower. BR is definitely not doing good.
I responded to your comment about Kingmaker, where it looked as if you gave the impression that there is some silver-lining (because Kingmaker's drop is more significant). I tried to add color by saying that the direct competition (BR) is actually increasing significantly. Btw, Kingmaker's direct competition is the second part of Backstreet Rookie, not Psycho. So BR is snooping some viewers from both dramas. Does not really matter... But it is just my estimated guess of where the viewers of both dramas went. But it still competitive between the three... It is not a one-sided beatdown such as TWOTM vs TKEM. However, might change next week as Graceful Friends is debuting...

Does not matter... I was looking at absolute viewers. Last week BR had 900k viewers for part 1 and this week 1.1m. That is quite a significant increase. I understand that you have to multiply cable by 2 times to get the free-to-air equivalent. But 200k new viewers for BR is quite significant. That is almost 25% increase. For part 2, BR even scores 1.755m viewers.

I think we should stop looking at the ratings. This drama will definitely not reach 15%. I wonder whether if it will even reach 7%. If you look at the competition for example, normally the first episode of Backstreet Rookie will see a significant dip versus the second part. This dip in the first episode is probably caused due to the simultaneous airing of Psycho and BR for 20 min. But now the gap between the first part and second part of BR slowly narrowing. BR managed to score significantly higher for the first part this week than last week. So Psycho is also slowly losing the battle versus BR. Until so far BR's rating was mostly driven by the second part, but the first part is now catching up. I.e. Psycho is definitely losing steam.
7/4/2020 cable rating = 5. 248%, this is lower from the 2 saturday ratings and sunday is usually lower than saturday…
