I truly don’t like nor understand this 1 episode thing.
It's mostly pur marketing, to increase and lengthen the engagement as much as possible for these reasons:
- Increase the traffic and VIP members on the distribution plateforms. For the latter, it helps for them to stay subscribed and not cancelling it. - Increase the time to make all the money deals with past, present and future deals (Brands, sponsorships, investments, ads, stage). It helps to keep the hype going from events/meetings, to make and renew these deals. - Gives time for the post-production to edit, reshoot, (...), needed scenes. They did for this series already. - Increase and cultivate the fanbases.
They are more reasons, but these are the main ones. In the end, if they drop all episodes fast, people after a while, they will just move on to the next thing. That's what happened with Netflix in the past. I deal with the frustration of waiting by being conscious that the people of this production have done an amazing job. Even they deserve all the hype for them to get what they need for future projects: the directors, costum designers, hair and make-up artists, stage designers, the builders and so on. I am excited to see what we will get in store in the future.
it’s great that Netflix has BL series now. I think they should pick better ones though and beat what’s on…
It is hard to do because of the established distribution rights. Specially for Thai series productions. They are already tide with the chinese platforms due to exclusive long-term/hardcore contracts. These platforms are like octupus, they control almost everything. That's why there is almost no thai production that is exclusive to Netflix.
Complaining about these last aired episodes where the watchers feel angry and/or sad. Not to deny these feeling, I just want to leave a reminder, it is a story about the people during war/conflict time. It is not just about MLs and SLs story between them, but it's about all their challenges and the ones surrounding them. The parts after separations are not fill ins, it's their life experience. These aweful things do happen everytime. It is even worse in real life. Because life doens't censor it. This crual side shouldn't be ignored. It is a reality of many people in this time of age and our ancentors went through it too. I leaves me with no disappointment, but only gratefulness and hope. A series of 40 episodes, 45 minutes per episodes, they are plenty of time for pink and roses moments.
I literarly shed tears in the first 3 minutes of episode 20 when the woman was approach by those 2 men and thanked Changyu. Why can't we walk in total peace? Why are we the ones that need to be scared? Why are we the ones that need to carry help defence tools? Why are we the ones to be in this situation? How come all of us when through this situation or at least know someone wh went trhough it?
The Princess character may be called "naive" & "sheltered" by some but I call her stupid.…
She is been naive and sheltered. She is one of those that thinks she can change him and such. She thinks she can have everything she wants like she used to. Plus royalty don't see their siblings that often, specially when they are gender different.
You are correct, the novel is very popular, the director is famous, he has directed a very popular drama earlier…
I will add that having a historical drama where it tells the story of the commun people is rare too. Usually we only see the upper class side of things. It's refreshing to see how normal people live and their day to day issues.
