last ep he did not want to tie her up with his mess (he said to his friend) but this ep he asked her to come with…
Pur jealousy. While before, she was just a "no body". I thought he can just come back and she will be there for him. With everything that happened at the battle and people started liking her, it trigged all that.

I thought the same thing, when I saw the scene I yelled, stop right there, don't do it and it bothered me a lot…
I never said everyone. I am saying many people do. It's like it gaves them "courage", removes the edge off. They feel less shy and such. Especially the younger people. With experience and time, some learn to do all these things without alcohol by gaining confidence and the right motivation. If you tell them to confess, ask a lady out, dance with her, etc... not many people will.
Edit: Specially for the introvert people.

Sadly, it's the really for many people in real life. Why do you think people go on dates and have drinks? Just like some needs alcohol, to be able to talk or dance in the nightlife. It's a bad habit that humans have for centuries.

Does anyone know the meaning of the line in ep 14 that Yan Zheng said to Song Yan, "How do you know that when…
that means: Song Yan thinks by going to the capital where the nobility is, he will find a place to land. But he will just get stepped on. Because the nobility already owns it. While he is just trying to get in.

Someone who knows the history and context, was Zhang Ling He being racist here? https://x.com/rosyholp/status/2031406344776069371?s=20How…
In the Hello Saturday show, his teammate had to do ZLH caricature. In your mentionned link, it's what ZLH reaction to it.
He didn't think about it when he said it, that's for sure. He is known for being impulsive talker. He was racist though. What made it worse, it's in his apology post at the end, he wrote it was a misunderstanding.
And adding to that, it's a recorded show. They thought it was funny and left it there. That's how a part of the chinese society see and think about those things.

Review Hierarchy
I am from the marketing background and I want to let people know that anything can be a sponsor for a production. Alot of product placements we see on dramas, feel almost always out of place (except the clothing and make-up). It's just like that luxury car racing scene. Notice they are from the same brand. Looks ridiculous, but the production made good money from placing those cars on that one scene. They never lose money when it is a sponsored scene. Some directors hate that part of the job, but they make do because they need the sponsors' money.

Thanks i did not nice the Hairpin emblem .. guess i have to rewatch some of the hairpin scenes.
You see it better when Zeng put it in Changyu hair when she gets it back. I forgot the eppisoe number.

I think the knife alloy is something that it is used in military weaponry. I think the dad gave his weapon to smelt it into 2 knifes to make a living and to protect the family. That is why Zheng was sus about the family identity. The hairpin stone had an imprint on it. Maybe a family emblem or something..... Don't think he noticed that. Probably means that he didn't knew the mom's family.

People keep saying Zhang Linghe’s voice is dubbed as if it’s another voice actor, which isn’t accurate.…
The standard with chinese dramas mostly they are dubbed by a voice actors. And it's not just due to the filming conditions.
It is due to the following:
- To save filming time with the live audio recording. The filming productions time is faster if you drop the consistency and quality recording live audio and just due it in post production with voice actors.
- Actors accents. They are so many dialects and accents in China. Few actors in the industry can adapt the voice to match their character's accent.
- Because their filming time, actors can move to another project while voice actors can do their job in post productions. With that, it's cheaper to hire a voice actor than paying more to the actors. Don't forget they are 'ghost voice actors' that have the same or able to copy the same voice as the actors.
- Censorship issues and correcting mistakes due to bad quality recording. Sometimes dialogues doesn't pass censorship, so it's more simpler to change it in post-production. If it's dubbed by voice actors, it is easier to change it, than getting the actors back or cutting/deleting the scenes.
- Some, or even I dare say, alot of actors, their line delivery is not great. So to augment the viewing experience, they use voice actors. And it saves filming production time to avoid NG scenes.
- In some filming places, specially the popular ones, many productions film at the same time, so the audio quality is already bad. So they use the actor real voice in post-production or use the voice actors.
- And so on and so on.
Some are valid reasons, but some it's due to time, money and actors abilities which I find sad in my opinion. If in the majority of occidental countries are able to record live the audio 95% of their productions, China is able to do so too, if they really want to.

I am usually chill. But this... nope. It is just again another lack of research by the prod and it's ignorance. They could have done something properly and awesome using my culture. But that again no.

She knows archery and spearing. With what happened to her in the beginning she was very weak and needed training to get back to shape. Which I understand very much.

Cheng Li Su is way more trustful then Song Taotao to keep the information in. He is his nephew and now him really well. Plus, his medicine speciality is specialized on the female body. Compared to Taotao who he knows just a few months and knows only general medecine with a speciality in potions making.

Not all Generals had the luxury to have that "perfect domineering body and personnality". Kings and Queens only cared about winning and not how their generals looked.

Why does everything feel so forced? Every moment that's meant to make He Yan shine seems out of place. For example,…
Generals have different personalities. What matters is their capacity to lead, their courage, make decisions on the spot, their experience, to rally, to win, to adapt, to gather information, communication, etc. All living beings have what we call a Reptilian in the brain. Depending on the situation, we adapt to it, specially when they go survival mode.

Don't forget that she was a general before and she was the number one on her own batallion. Habits die hard.

Seeing a general capacity that is physically imposing and domineering is a preference, but it not all the reality that exists. And yes, the production should have made a better job at disguising her as a male, but that's all.

For asking Song Taotao, less people know about her gender better it is safe for Yan. In military rules at that time, to cheat the military is execution.
