I feel the same way. Jang Kang probably make sure only Jang blood can unsheathe this sword. He used to believe Uk is not his son. Now it would change his mind.

I'm thinking what if Jang Kang is following his sword, not Uk. He didn't seem to know the one carrying is Uk. That's why he was surprised to see Uk being able to use it. The sword and its original owner have energy connection.
