There should be a dilemma. We don't live in a post sexual orientation world, and you don't just fall in love with…
i see, i understand why you don't like that narrative but the characters also don't have a fit sexuality put on them so it's not an erasure of sexual orientation going on. another point is that sometimes people don't know what they really like until they've met the right person and that's also what could be going on in these stories if that makes sense. in this story is not a i was straight and now i like boys, it's a ah i fell in love for real now and i know what i like. sorry if it doesn't make sense but yes i understand where you're coming from

also check out their most recent interview. unfortunately no english subs but it has a lot of cute moments nonetheless
I like that they didn't go with the narrative of " I can't believe I fell in love with a boy" but rather " I fell in love and the person happened to be a boy ". There was never a confrontation of sexuality, or internalized dilemma about what they were feeling about both of them being male
I think they did so many things right with Noey and Thi's character in the series. im gonna talk about the novel…
first Noey(series) vs Noei(Novel). Noey is much more quirkier and considerate in the series especially in the way he speaks, I appreciate the change they did with noey's initial interactions with Thi, In the novel he tells Thi that he's not gay and therefore doesn't like Thi while in the series and he doesn't see thi being a man as the problem but rather that he's just not his type. I like that Noey asks for Thi's consent and doesn't actually push Thi's boundaries of intimacy. As for Thi's character despite what many say (like that he has no back bone) he's acually more level headed and rational in the series. He is more willing to be by Noey's side and tries to understand him. Also he learns how to interact and stand his ground better than in the Novel. Also on screen chemistry is a major plus. both actors really became their character's and with the series now ended my belief that this was the best casting for the show is stronger than ever. last, I actually like the innocence of the series more.
I think they did so many things right with Noey and Thi's character in the series. im gonna talk about the novel so i'll reply to my comment with a hidden spoiler. read if you'd like
