Someone please tell Thai and Korean BL directors and actors to take notes from this series on couple behaviour.
I agree.
The methods being used in this series are:
-- financially frugal (the director is only using a small camera that is hand held or on a tripod) -- filmed NATURALLY both in the inside and outside locations (meaning nothing overly staged IF staged at all - the buildings, the rooms, the outdoor settings like walking in the woods, etc - and the natural weather conditions and natural sounds AS WELL AS the silences are all included) -- inspirational, acting and directing-wise
What I like most is that the director is giving minimal instructions to the actors.
In many instances (as seen in the behind-the-scenes videos they are also posting), the actors are given basic information about each scene but are encouraged to find their own emotional expressions and reactions to the circumstances, their own body language, their own comfortable level of skinship, and they are allowed to run with whatever emotions rise to the surface.
The director might ask them to re-do a scene to prompt other interpretations, but the actors are basically encouraged to be as natural as possible.
And that has resulted in a STUNNINGLY beautiful and deeply touching story that literally make me feel like I'm watching a poem being written in the air.
I have watched every episode of the original series as well as the "Extra" series that continues with the main couple but shows us much smaller vignettes, and at the end of the episodes I often find that I have silent tears running down my face, or a deep ache in my heart as if I have encountered beauty that I might never see again, and yearn for it to come back even before the last strains of it drift away on the breeze.
(Even just writing that ^^^ I have tears in my eyes again.)
What this small, brave, independent and ethereal series has achieved is remarkable. Especially considering it's a Chinese BL, which still amazes me.
I feel like I'm not explaining it very well, but this series has completely changed my level of expectation for dramas, and especially BLs, in the future.
I posted this WAY below in the comments, so I'm posting the links here in this new comment for those who didn't see the other one.

The director has been uploading NEW, related episodes as part of a "special series." Not the same as the original one, but a continuation of the same couple with a different series name. They're more like "special episodes" and I think there will be 13 of them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FIRST (ORIGINAL) SERIES:
Here are the episodes in order (a couple of the main screens are mislabeled with the wrong episode number. Even so, the links are correct, and are in order. I double checked.): ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SPECIAL (EXTRA) SERIES (same couple, and a continuation of the original story - there will be 13 episodes of THIS series, and they are short, ranging from around 6 minutes to about 4 minutes long. But they are SO worth watching.)
NOTE: Ep 13 was the final one of the "Extra" series. BUT........it's my understanding there's going to be a special episode in July. So keep an eye out!

As an older woman myself (almost 60), I feel compelled to honor her absolute (and PAINFUL) dedication to the role by watching the film at least once. Looking forward to it!
He's not a bad-looking guy. I've seen him look quite nice - well styled (much more casual, not in those weird suits), good hair, a LOT less forehead - but only when he's off-camera, like on vacation or at a fan meet or some other event.
But ON-camera.....ugh. He desperately needs a stylist who can do a lot better.
1 - There's a blooper around the 20:08 time stamp. In that scene, Thatdanai is in two places - to the very right of the screen, and reflected in the mirror. Just when Khanin bends down to pick his sword up off the floor, Thatdanai's figure in the mirror moves to adjust his glasses. But his figure on the right of the screen doesn't move.
2 - Around the 25:35 time stamp when Khanin is standing in the hallway holding his coffee cup, the music suddenly gets very loud with some brass instruments, and then a couple of seconds later, the music SOUNDS like it's going to transition into some other kind of music, but it's abruptly cut off in a weird way when the scene transitions to the breakfast table.
There were a few other spots that weren't awful, but they could have been smoother.
Every episode is INCREDIBLE. I cannot get over the depth of talent from Henry and the Korean performers. Absolutely the best ear candy I've heard in a long time.
In case anyone wants to know more about the "world building" aspect of The Next Prince, the BLush channel on YouTube has a video that breaks down all kinds of stuff, including an explanation of the kingdom, the four family houses that make up the power bases in the kingdom, etc. It's pretty interesting.
There were a few choppy moments - which is surprising considering all the time they've had (3 years) to make sure everything is coherent and smooth - but it was pretty good overall.
I'm a little disappointed that the first kiss - the Emmalian Kiss - was already in the 1st ep, and at a cheesy college party, too.
Even though we all know Khanin and Charan are destined to be together, I was hoping for more of a buildup before that happened.
BTW........

Tony said he has someone planted inside X-Hunter. Has Sonic been a sleeper agent for Tony all these years?
If yes, that will devastate everyone, but especially North.

“I will walk with you through every ending.”
That’s a different kind of vow.

Boom carries grief like a language.

Just truth.
And the kind of love that shows up
even at a funeral.

Are you a writer and/or a poet? Serious question. Because if you're not, you should be.

I am sure he's the nicest person on the planet in real life. But I do not like his acting or his on-screen styling at all.

"Does Mama want Papa to......"
"Mmmmmm yes, Mama wants Papa to......"
"Is Mama in the mood to......"
"Let Papa take care of you....."
UGHHHHHHH
The scenes will be ruined if they keep calling each other "Mama" and "Papa" over and over during sexy time.
