I would also say his attempts to push his mum away indicates he actually cares more for her than his dad. A lot…
People seem to expect him to act like a mini adult (not that the adults are setting a great example either). I saw someone say him getting slapped was their favourite part and it was just like.... Oh god.

Same, if he's not okay or on the road to being okay by the end of this I think I'll have a breakdown.

I agree but also disagree XD

He's certainly more aware of what's going on than people think he is and that's definitely something that's influencing his behaviour but I would also say his behaviours are those commonly found amongst children experiencing trauma and, whilst frustrating, can be understood and explained by looking at them through that lense. He's honestly feels very realistic and relatable in that sense and I'm impressed it's a topic the show decided to explore.

There is definitely a lot going on for him, though, and a simplistic view of his situation and just saying he's 'spoilt' really misses the mark and honestly, makes my blood boil when I see those kind of comments....

I'm looking forward to seeing how they wrap things up with him. I've loved all the storylines but Joon Young's has definitely been the most interesting to me and and the most emotionally charged.

DK's parents are so messed up that it's frightening me a lot more that other crazy people in the story. how they…
They've always got what they wanted and therefore have never had to stand in someone else's shoes. The dad actually seems quite aware of what other people are going through though, and the fact that he still chooses to do the things he does sends shivers down my spine.

I want many things to happen in the last 2 eps but what I want most is for Joon Young to continue counselling. Please. The boy needs it. (Sun Woo can join in too, she definitely needs it too.)

I'm also wondering what will happen between Ye Rim and Je Hyuk. It could go either way (and I'd be okay with either outcome if it's well handled) but that take-away chat was kind of ominous....

you know, I think joonyoung might be a bit scared of his father. Usually you talk back and yell at the parent…
I would also say his attempts to push his mum away indicates he actually cares more for her than his dad. A lot of kids with trauma will lash out at those closest to them as a defence mechanism and the fact most of his outbursts are aimed at his mum (in a very personal way) seems to imply that that relationship is a source of strong emotion for him.

Also he gets told quite regularly that he's not good for his mum and she'd be better off if she could cut ties and leave. From what I saw, it looked like he took that on board and decided to 'burden' his dad and let his mum go.

This was explained in the drama. Maybe luckily, the scene was more legible than usual. That makes me remember…
Haha true, but to be fair to them I have also only watched until ep. 5 and even then I wasn't paying that much attention so I thought I could have missed something (your answer makes me think I didn't though). Thank you for your answers though :)

Oh I remember the scene with the historical difference 100 years ago, I'm just trying to work out what, exactly, the nature of the historical difference was because I feel it's very important when considering the trams XD (the technological differences not so much because they are clearly out of the early 1900s at this point).

Also, even as a purely creative choice it's a little odd given how sensitive the viewers seem to be about Korea/Japan. I'm actually impressed (and grateful) there hasn't been a scandal about the tram yet.

It's really not an important detail to the plot (at least I'd imagine not) but people kept telling me I really needed to think about this drama so I did and I ended up fixating on the history side of things by accident and now the trams are very interesting to me :P

Okay, I know I dropped this drama but something has been bugging me for weeks and I can't think of anywhere else to post it:

Why does the Kingdom of Corea have a tram system that looks like it dates back to the early 1900s???? Because it's true that Korea (well Seoul) had a tram system back then but it was built by the Japanese to tighten their grip on the peninsula as a sort of power move and wasn't viewed favourably by the locals as a result.

I thought the Kingdom of Corea was never colonised? Did I misremember that? (I could very well have). If it wasn't, then why does it have a tram? And if it was, why does it have a tram???

Idk, it just seems odd to me that one of it's defining features for the viewer is a piece of infrastructure so closely linked to Japanese colonisation and once I noticed that I couldn't get it out of my head XD

Haha, it is honestly kind of sad to think I'd rather they weren't a couple because they were better just flirting. I've never really had that happen to me before.... It's an interesting feeling.

I heard some people had been doing that on twitter? I hope not because sending actual hate to a person is definitely…
Definitely, although the same can also be applied in the opposite situation! Just as it's important to not send actual hate to the cast and crew and call it criticism, it's also important not to look at criticism and call it hate. I feel like it's a fine balance and we often fall short in both cases :)

Is it even a bromance at this point? I know it's because of the whole jealousy plotline but for at least half of ep 12 I wasn't entirely convinced they wanted to be in the same room together XD

Oh yeah, I picked up on those comments too! I actually think those comments are a great example of what I'm talking about above. They say they've having sex but it's actually quite hard to believe them because they act like they barely ever touch each other, it's a really weird dissonance.

My rating was always going to be around a 7 (I'm not great with romance dramas in general) but now it may go a little lower now, we'll have to see what happens with the last ep.

I find it really interesting that Tine and Sarawat are less convincingly in love as a couple than when they were just fake dating, especially because the main reason seems to be that they can now, technically, express how they feel.

If we look at the first few eps, the scenes with them together relied so much on small, nuanced facial expressions and actions to get across the romantic tension: Sarawat would be ignoring Tine only to shoot him a look of absolute adoration when he thought Tine wasn't looking, Tine would be calling Sarawat "asshole" but giving a small smile once Sawarat's back was turned. All these little things served to show the audience their affection for one another without them ever saying that they loved/liked each other out loud and it's a technique that really worked and managed to bring an extra layer of meaning to the relationship. We could see they liked each other, even if the things they were saying something different.

Flashforward to ep 11 and you have both of them expressing their feeling for each other pretty frequently and those micro-expressions have all but disappeared. They say "I love you" but look like they'd rather be anywhere else: Sarawat doesn't do the cute, smitten gaze anymore when he thinks Tine isn't looking, Tine doesn't do the smile, neither of them touch each other in a way that shows me they love each other (AND NO I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT SEX, I DO NOT WANT THEM TO HAVE SEX ESPECIALLY NOT NOW BECAUSE IT WOULD BE AWFUL TO WATCH 2 PEOPLE WHO DON'T SEEM TO EVEN WANT TO BE IN EACH OTHER'S VICINITY DO THAT). It's almost like the writer thought that now Tine and Sawarat can say that they love each other, the other stuff isn't as important which just isn't true especially because tv shows are visual mediums and rely so much on visual cues to add meaning to any given scene.

Anyway, I don't really know why this shift happened but I can tell you this: as a representation of an LGBTQ+ relationship, this makes me just as uncomfortable as the overly fetishized portrayals in other BLs and feels just as unhealthy. Both feel like they are focussing on providing entertainment for a straight audience, just in different ways: one gives us (them?) smut to give us (them?) that sense of "dirty" taboo, the other "sanitizes" a gay relationship to the point it's not really a relationship any more. And yes, I guess that is technically the point of BLs but people were bringing this up as a defence of the portrayal of the relationship and I wanted to address that.

(That last paragraph was a tonal shift and a half and definitely wasn't where I planned thus analysis to end, whoops)

You're talking to a wall, some fans have decided to fixate on this particular point because they can't defend…
I also think they don't like it because while that show has many points for criticism, one of the things it did excellently was the chemistry between the leads (and the side couple), and that's one of the main issues here. The idea of anything doing something better than something you idolise is not a pleasant one and can lead to lashing out :P

Pam: I want to join the music course

Also Pam: I can't play any instruments and I have the song writing skills of a magpie.

Honestly, of all the things that happened this episode, the thing that bothered me the most is that no-one saw an issue with Pam trying to join a course she has - 1 qualifications for XD

As for the rest, I'm a little disappointed they decided to go with this plotline but I'm honestly also not that surprised. I wasn't expecting that much from this drama so I haven't been let down that much either :P

So I’ve finally caught up with HP! As I said before I really hope Jung Won ends up being a priest. Is something…
Whilst I agree that it would be interesting to see him be a priest, I think it would be an odd creative choice given that would effectively remove him from the cast. Plus I don't think it's as much a vocation as he thinks it is, judging by how he is around his patients, I think he'd struggle if he quit.

Also I think a storyline in which he starts dating GE could be very interesting, mainly because then you'd have his mum getting what she wanted (him not becoming a priest) whilst have to deal with him dating someone she will probably find very hard to get on with. (Doesn't hurt that I really like them together but I can see why you don't particularly)

Still, we'll see what happens!

Whilst they're not the main point of the drama, I am finding the romances to be one of the most enjoyable aspects just because they're the source of the most tension (not that it's really tension but you know what I mean). I really like JW and GE, I think they're each what the other needs and if they do get together his mum is going to have an interesting time of it, I'm sure (although I'm very worried that the writers are just tricking me).

JW and IJ seem like a very healthy couple, which is a nice change but also makes me very worried whilst still being very happy. As for SH and her stuff going on, we'll have to see ~

Also this new nurse in G&O, given we spent about 5 seconds on her name badge I assume she's a new key character.... That or she's going to die but given this is the drama that it is, I'm guessing probably not :P

This drama is whacky and oh so over-the-top but it's definitely an enjoyable watch if you're in the mood for an action comedy. Characters are a lot of fun (although CM's bullheadedness can certainly..... Irritate) and their relationships are nicely done as well.

There's definitely going to be romance (for those wondering) and I, for one, am getting ready to board the YE+WW ship. I have already packed my emotional bags and am looking forward to some light, fluffy, fun once it properly starts sailing XD

Also the editing style is really fun? Unconventional and a bit weird but also really playful and fun. May try checking out the writer's and director's other works if I keep enjoying this :)
