Yeah, all these interesting scenes missing from this drama and we get camera moving away, bright lights and fating…
The cut scenes would have shown much less than the scene — in the early part of the drama — where Duan Xu takes a bath while being secretly watched by Simu (a scene that does not exist in the novel). I fear that rather than censorship, the ax has fallen from the screenwriter, who — after the first third of the episodes, which were faithful to the novel — began to insert things that were not planned and to remove others. Or perhaps the screenwriter previously worked for the censorship 🤣🤣🤣
They literally took out the fun part from the novel and the things which added more depth to their romance ?I…
I had the exact same impression about the kiss: the BTS footage I saw a while back was much more engaging than the final scene edited for the episode. In the BTS video, it almost feels like he suddenly interrupts Simu with a kiss—and so does the novel! - while in the episode, everything is much calmer and less emotional. Or at least, that was my impression...
For those who haven't read the novel, episodes 30 and 31 will probably still be very good. Having read the novel, however, I expected much more. The romantic declarations are fine, but a lot of little details that would have made it all more exciting are missing, from the funny reference to their wedding night, to her waking up with a hoarse voice, to Duan Xu's scandalized sister discovering them in bed together the next morning, to her leaving her artistic touch permanently, tattooing his back—at Duan Xu's request—with a plum branch and snow-covered flowers. Instead, the whole emphasis has been toned down.
The wait of 67 chapters in the novel to finally appreciate the romance between the two was worth it; the 29 episodes of the drama to see them capitulate like this in the 30th... I honestly don't know. I still find it a very beautiful drama, especially the first part, which was faithful to the novel, and I'll continue watching it because of the main actors. But I don't think I'll remember it as a masterpiece, or at least I'll always have the feeling that it could have been better...
For now, I'm afraid we won't see anything for a long time. I'd also be curious to see him in a non-romance, but I can't give up a good romance either - at least one a year - so my main hope is to have at least 2 dramas - 3 would be wonderful - a year...
Didn't y'all say they'll be together for most of the time? 😭 Even if she rejects him twice to date him they'll…
They'll start a relationship, but they won't spend all their time together (she also has her duties in the Void, and he has an army to lead into battle).

They'll have a chance to be together soon. Marriage is a ploy, the bride-to-be is complicit—and in love with someone else—so in the end the last-minute wedding won't happen, but that will be enough to finally make He Simu give in.
Am I wrong ... Didn't Duan Xu say his family was killed and only he escaped, and that's why he was raised in the…
Duan Xu was kidnapped as a child. His father, to avoid giving in to the kidnappers, abandoned him, telling them they had taken the wrong child (and replacing Duan Xu with a fake son). Duan Xu escapes from the kidnappers and ends up in the assassins' sect. When he escapes from there too, seven years later, he reappears at his family home. At that point, his father makes the fake Duan Xu disappear—sent away for years so no one would know he wasn't the real one—and puts the real one back in its proper place, returning him to the capital.
Arthur don’t have any upcoming dramas he’s going to be filming? 😭😭😭we don’t have anything else…
During Tencent Video All Star Night 2025—around last December—CFY had stated that three of his works would be broadcast in 2026. Three. Love Story in 1970 and Love Beyond the Grave... And the third? I doubt he was referring to a film—the one he's filming now with Wang Yinglu won't be seen until 2027, I think—so... What's missing? I'd say Immortality, but after years of waiting, is it possible that the time has finally come?
This is my first time watching Chen Feiyu or Arthur Chen in a drama, and I am very fond of him. Its not about…
As much as I enjoyed him in Lighter & Princess and When Destiny Brings the Demon, I think he truly outdid himself in the recent (March 2026) "Love Story in the 1970s," demonstrating great talent and versatility.
In the future, I'd love to see CFY star in a drama set in the Chinese Republican era, perhaps in a military role (something similar to 2021's "Fall in Love"), or a drama with an antihero seeking revenge, like the Kdrama "Vincenzo."
Can anyone tell me please :Will they be apart for long time? How they will be reunited? (According to the novel)
Not for long. He'll stage a wedding—which he'll conveniently cancel at the last minute, thanks to the bride's complicity—and at the same time, he'll manage to get He Simu to capitulate in a far from ordinary way.
I want a spoiler about the romance: does Duan Xu end up getting married, or does something happen that prevents…
Duan Xu plans a marriage with a young woman, secretly agreeing with her to call it off at the last minute (she too is in love with someone else), all the while finding a way to involve/make jealous and ultimately make He Simu capitulate.
