So, do you recommend this show or not? I really want to watch it because I think SHK is a great actor, but I'm afraid the show might be a bit slow-paced and dry. What do you say? is it worth watching?
Manipulation seemed fine according to the character as it was his mission but that sexual assault and his promise…
You're right about manipulation being a part of his character. However, when it's aimed towards someone you seem to care about and are sleeping with, it's just not my cup of tea.
Episode 6 didn't sit well with me. First, consent is sexy. SA, coercion, and manipulation is not. Huai En's behaviour was unacceptable. Next, that scene with the severed hand was ridiculous and completely unnecessary. I don't know if that happened in the novel, but the screenwriter should have done a better job and altered this scene. What's more, some of the scenes in the prison cell were over the top and made me cringe. Overall, I think some changes could have been made to the story to make it more believable and appealing. However, I will continue watching because I want to support the cast and the people involved, but I will not support these types of shows. Also, future directors and screenwriters, please create a decent BL without making the characters and the story a trope fest in which non con is considered normal and romantic.
I am on ep 6 and I love this drama! Finally, a series in which the main character travels with two girls that actually like and respect each other, and are NOT fighting over the guy. I hope this doesn't change. Also, Murong Zi Ying is so handsome I just can't...
I only saw the first like 15 or 20 minutes but had to stop as maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention because…
It's set in a dystopian universe so everything you see in the show is made up. It doesn't reflect our world entirely. The judges are famous, the corporations rule the world etc.
The romance between Kim Ga On and Yoon Soo Hyun is totally unbelievable. They have zero chemistry although they had been friends since they could walk (literally). She asked him on dates more than once, told him she loved him, and still he refused. What exactly did he do when he went through puberty and adolescence? Did he date at all? Did he have crushes? Suddenly, he woke up and told her he loved her... without any explanation what exactly changed and why a sudden change of heart. And then he slept on the floor... Right. After 20-something years of her mooning over him. Sun Ah and Yo Han's relationship/rivalry had more chemistry and had actually more sense (even a crazy one).
Also, Ga On as a character seems pretty useless. What does he actually do but stand as a sidekick to Yo Han who carries the whole show? If Ga On's character was a woman, at least she'd end up as a romantic interest (and nothing else, as usual) to Yo Han.
The winner deserved it! He was the only one who was consistent during the competitions. I found the finale a bit boring, but the result is what matters. Also, I am not a fan of this dark setting, low lighting... In the future, if they make another season, I would prefer some of the challenges to be outdoors!
