@episode 38-39 I'd say. But both leads will have quite a few interactions beforehand that will hint at a future romance.
Also, don't worry, the show events prior to episode 38-39 will definitely keep you hooked and entertained. Enjoy the ride !

The scene you’re referring to was at the end of episode 51! I loved seeing that side of Ming Lan's personality XD

I also love these scenes (so satisfying and well-acted): when young Ming Lan gives a tongue-lashing to Manniang to protect her friend; when Gu Ting Ye's father passes away and his stepmom finally reveals her true colors; when Gu Ting Ye kicks Manniang out of his house; Concubine Lin's downfall, when Qi Heng's life unravels; the FL-ML wedding; when Ming Lan acts out in front of her family and throws her chopsticks on the ground (lol); the poisoning case and how Ming Lan acted as a detective/vigilante (especially when she confronts the Wang family); Ming Lan giving a piece of her mind to her dad and making him cry (lol); Ming Lan begging the Empress for mercy; Ming Lan visiting Gu Ting Ye in jail; Ming Lan kneeling in front of the palace and the aftermath... and so many more...

I guess I might as well just say that I love the entire series 😂
