This is NOT a rom-com!! It says that on the page right there in the genre there is no comedy why do people keep…
I didn't mean I need prep for all dramas, but if it's a heavier one I need to be in the appropriate mood to watch, so I want to know beforehand. I can't possibly watch all promo material for all shows x_X Wouldn't want that either, because then there's too many spoilers. So my teaser picks for this show were probably biased.
The director really is awesome! It's quite amazing how beautifully some scenes were shot here and I also loved all of his previous work that I watched. Nine is totally recommended!
As for Bubblegum, I quite enjoyed it after adjusting my expectations =)

I watched the teasers fully understanding the dialoge in there and it made me expect a rom-com. That's why I understand why some people (including myself) watched with different expectations. Teasers differ sometimes, but that's failed promo imo and no excuse for other shows to do so, too.
I'm not saying it's a bad show or anything, but I did feel decieved because it was way heavier than it let on and I like to be prepared mentally when watching such a show.
Maybe this is just a case of the same material seeming different depending on the person.
Edit: I just checked the teaser on MDL and have to say I watched different ones, this one for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btyViWwkLsQ
This show starts out unconventional and therefore interesting, if a bit risky. But then somehow it becomes a point by numbers rom-com including all over-used cliches and a lot of convenient writing. I never thought the main couple should be together, they felt too forced and didn't really make sense. Ishihara Satomi is cute as ever, but almost everything else is not worth it =(
Soooo... they're a couple without him being straight? I don't quite understand how that's supposed to work, at…
I agree with the message being that different people like different things. You should be true to yourself and nobody should judge anyone for that.
This was mainly conveyed up to ep 9 but the interviews at the end brought the focus back to it.
Soooo... they're a couple without him being straight? I don't quite understand how that's supposed to work, at least for her O.o
But I'll cut the show some slack for ending on such a great message.
This guy is simply awesome und usually underappreciated! I've been a fan for quite a while, but he still manages to impress me over and over in every project.
Is this worth watching? The eps are only 25 mins, so short..
It's cute and enjoyable, but don't expect anything too deep. For a show about same-sex love, they stay pretty clear of actually dealing with the topic.
Yay!The deliveryman and Chouji tHiro and ogether! I am not sure to have understand everything about Hiro and the…
ikr! Especially in a drama like this making him straight would totally go counter to the dramas awesome message so far and ruin everything.
I still believe they'll do it though T___T It'd be too bold for them, after all.
just saw episode 5.... you'll be pleased by the ending....
well I wasn't pleased by that ending... she lets herself go in an emotional moment when she clearly liked someone else just minutes before and he takes advantage of her feeling weak. Low moments for both of them.
In many J-dramas, idealistic main characters change everything through their preachy speeches. What I really like about this show is that while they do have such speeches to some extent, they're not the solution to all problems and the other characters react to them in a much more realistic way.
Looking good so far! And Kaede and Ikuo really make a cute couple =D
It doesn't have subs though
