This drama is entertaining but is not memorable. It is an odyssey, which it means that it will be a long and eventful journey, which the drama did provide. Once that said, the plot is sometimes incoherent and all over the place. The characters are likable but the leading female character spent most of the drama been stubborn and child like, her love hate relationship with the leading male was overbearing and it took too long for the romance to take place and, once it did, it was not as great as expected. The leading male, even through his twice acquired amnesia, is steadfast toward his feelings and demonstrates a steady good nature quality. The second part of the drama had too many ridiculous twists that became somewhat repetitive and the ending is rushed and ambiguous. Overall, it is not a bad drama; it has enough fantasy to keep the viewer amused. Was this review helpful to you?

This is a good sports/competition drama that focuses on the lives and struggles of a former E-sport team that disbanded after getting the championship and how, 10 years later, they find themselves with the opportunity to fulfill their broken dreams through a nice story progression that leads to a satisfying result at the end of the journey. Although the main focus of the drama is the story of the main characters from the disbanded team, the leading male, Han Shangyan, finds himself falling in love with Tong Nian, a gentle and sweet girl that manages to help him break down his emotional protective barriers creating a nice and cute romance. There are some parts of this drama that are wonderful and some others that are frustrating at the same time. The writer(s) didn’t give justice to Tong Nian’s apparent high IQ making the character as someone lacking emotional intelligence toward her own self. Although the drama is full of great characters and solid side stories, they were not brought up to its true and full potential. This drama is not perfect but it is entertaining, enjoy it! Angel’s Last Mission is a good light romcom that brings up a love story between a human and an angel. There’s character development throughout the drama for both leads and some supporting characters. Although there are some plot twists that could eventually separate the leads, they remain steadfast to their intent on loving and protecting each other, their chemistry is nice but not strong enough which makes some of their the romantic scenes dispassionate. Although at the end the main leads end up together, the ending feels rushed and unimpressive since it doesn’t deliver the emotions of a reencounter brought up through devoted love and sacrifice. Overall, the drama has some weak elements but it is entertaining. Was this review helpful to you?

This is a great entertaining comedy that uses the legal system as its setting where the main characters are all related to the judicial system. The main and supporting cast did a great job in bringing these complex characters’ personalities to life. The overall tone of this drama is comedic but it also succeeds in bringing up the humanistic aspects of injustice and its resolutions through the use of the court system. This drama is not focused on any romantic attraction between the lead couple but more on the mutual understanding and respect that developed throughout the duration of the drama gained through a battle of wits and misunderstandings about the male lead that kept coming to light as the drama progresses. Although the antagonists were all bad, selfish, and rotten people to the core, the drama makes light of the circumstances through comedic moments and, at the end, justice is served. Don't look for legal absurdities (it's a comedy after all) and enjoy it!

Review for Part 1 and 2 together
Alchemy of Souls Part 1 and 2 are spectacular productions. This is a character driven fantasy Korean drama that has very well choreograph action scenes, conspiracy galore, great CGI’s, beautiful costumes, comedy, and a story of steadfast love and support from the leading couple as well as the friendship among the young generation of mages. The chemistry among the main characters is fantastic as well as the dynamics of the older mages which many times deliver many comedic moments. Alchemy of Souls has an original story line from the famous Hong sisters with many twists and turns, modern styles (costumes and hairstyles), references to pop culture, and a great OST. The entire drama would’ve have been better if season 2 was integrated with season 1 creating just one drama and viewers would not have been disappointed with some changes. The leading lady on season 2 did very well bringing her character to life as she was Naksu in the beginning of season 1, which I particularly agree with bringing her back with her own semblance, but the amnesia plot weakened her magnificent warrior aura. The second season is more about Uk and Naksu’s love story. Overall, even though this drama has n blend of genres (action, mystery, revenge, comedy,…), the drama is about Uk and Naksu’s relationship as Master and Pupil that evolves into a beautiful love story among the mayhem of a fantastical plot and the antagonists underhanded tactics to bring them down. This drama (Part 1 and 2) is very entertaining, enjoy it!Was this review helpful to you?

This is a very good fantasy mystery sci-fi drama! The viewer gets to enjoy a stunning cinematography, wonderful cast and a mesmerizing soundtrack to counteract two things on which the drama fall deficient- Gu Chan-seong and his relationship with Jang Man-wol, and the dual timelines. Gu Chan-seong is just a catalyst for Jang Man-wol’s character when it could have been so much more given the fact that he was always the person who loved her the most, and still, the writers couldn’t entirely fuse the love story into the complex and strong Jang Man-wol character ultimately resorting to a sweet and soulful romance, a disappointment when you have actors of high caliber as Lee Ji-eun (IU) and Yeo Jin-goo. The drama’s focal point is Jang Man Weol and Lee Ji-eun (IU) delivers an excellent performance bringing this character to life. The rest of the cast become an extension to her character delivering a sweet romance, thrill, drama, and comedic moments to her emotionally laden persona. The second deficiency on this show is the merging of timelines, past and present. The plot could have been better if only the present timeline would have the same important development as the past, but it fell short in comparison. Even though the drama is not perfect, it is entertaining and fun to watch. Enjoy it! Was this review helpful to you?

This drama is a very good romantic comedy that, occasionally, will pull your heartstrings. The cast did a great job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple has great chemistry. There is also a great character development, especially for the lead male actor. There is also s strong bond and true friendship among the male characters and the leading lady with her best friend; and there is Chu Yan, who, even though he really liked Xia Lin (Mumu), he remained loyal to his best friend and was truly happy for the couple. Have to say that there is more to Yi Zhou than meets the eye. He was also a loyal friend and lover. The romance between the leading couple was well written and executed; leading to a very beautiful, intense, and long lasting relationship that took shape through communication and persistence every time there was a conflict or misunderstanding. The drama is really entertaining. Enjoy it! ** [Don’t forget that there is always a scheme to contract marriages, and this drama is not an exception! There’s also a second season coming in 2020 which I hope will be as good as or even better than this one!]** Was this review helpful to you?
