I love how thoughtful the script was written. Today ep., they show the viewers’ BanXia sharing about her lack of courage and confronting her fear which ML consoled her appropriately on her growth in bravery. It will be unrealistic for us to see BanXia suddenly grown courageous, her strengths is progressively developed as she learnt not to fear demons with XuanYe’s support.

Re-watching ep 13, I really love their romance arc. Although they ended in tragedy. I just love the subtle eye expression, the unspoken body language between MY and SJ, just tell how deep down they love each other. I like SJ’s innocent character and MY’s loyal, altruistic character. He has such a lovely relationships with the rest of the Gods. The design and costume of the Gods were also quite thoughtful and can see the production teams’ effort. Initially I feel for LSS as she can’t recognise and reconcile with her mom. However I understand that the Gods here are all focusing on greater good of mankind hence even as memories they can’t reconnect and acknowledging each others’ existence.

After this section, I somehow can’t look at seafood in the same way😅. Like I can never look at crows in the same way anymore🤣.

I skipped most of Tian Huan’s scene as I feel so strongly for Sang Jiu. She suffers so much😭.

IMO, you really can’t watch it from the lens of Western supernatural horror. It’s is very different from the Supernatural series. You may want to enjoy this like an Eastern ghost/demon story, more like “The Chinese ghost” story if you are familiar with that. To me it feels more like a Japanese folk tale of Yokai.

Totally agreed. Recently in MDL, there has been fandom war and indeed the ratings do not reflect the actual quality of the drama. I also strongly support a good story telling, with realistic acting and with effort on the whole set are important factors for a good drama to be appealing to me. So I normally don’t based my drama watch on MDL ratings.

Interesting analysis. Yeah I do noticed horror and mystery tend to have lower ratings. It reflect the type of crowd in MDL but May not the majority.
And k drama tends to have higher ratings compare to c drama🤷🏻‍♀️.

I found another one movie released in Mar 2021, titled “Demon Hunter Yan ChiXia”, however the premise of the story is different. That Demon Hunter, Yan Chi Xia’s character was based on an old Hong Kong movie “Chinese Ghost story”.

Yes! I felt this role really suits him well and he definitely practice hard on his diction and delivery of dialogue🤩.
