On Soompi, they announced that Viki has acquired this. Let’s see which region.
Probably likely but don't believe everything the "writers" at Soompi write.

Only this morning one article blathers on about The Roundup: Punishment having the biggest box office opening of 2024. Guess the "writer" forgot about Exhuma in February, which had almost double that of The Roundup :)

If I read anything on Soompi, I then check two other sources, as their "writers" are often more wrong than right. As an entertainment journalist, I used to list them as a source on some articles, but no longer do, as their information is often untrustworthy.

If I had enough blocks left, I'd have blocked her/him by now :) So bloody tired of idiots commenting on "age gaps" and "face gaps" because they don't particularly like the actress. And note how it's NEVER the guy these fools go after, but always the actress. Misogyny at its finest -- whether coming from an idiot girl or an idiot guy.

It's like the world's longest running soap opera -- the British show Coronation Street. My whole family used to…
Yep, used to watch Eastenders for years too (Brit here, but emigrated to the U.S. years ago :) ). Then new episodes became increasingly difficult to find in the U.S. for a while, so got out of it. Think my parents still watch it though? Great show.

i really cannot understand why almost everyone is criticizing this drama this MUCH and expect to characters to…
Me too! It's been one of my faves of the season.

Basically, ignore any ratings for any drama at MDL, as the site seems to be chock-full of entitled babies, who have nothing better to do than whine that a particular drama doesn't meet their "needs".

IMDB is a better indication (8.0 out of 10 currently), and even Viki's viewers (a site that over-inflates its ratings, but is still usually on the ball with how good a drama is or not) are rating the drama very high.

At this point, if MDL users are whining about a drama, I know I'll love it :)

I don't know why people don't like the FL....as a newbie she has acted well... she suits this role...As for Xiao…
She's brilliant in it. Easily one of my favorite all-time characters and actresses. The drama too is easily in my Top 5 Asian dramas of all time (still 10 episodes left to watch, and will be so sad when it ends).

i feel like if they said that in the first flashback she is supposed to be 14 - 15 years old people would understand…
She's one of my favorite characters in any Asian drama I've watched, and I've seen a helluva lot - most of which aren't on my MDL list as I've been watching Asian dramas since I moved to Thailand in 2002, so can't remember most of them :).

Her character develops throughout the series (I just finished Episode 30) but in small, subtle ways, which is how it would be in real life and not the drastic changes unbelievable dramas often push.

Plus, Ren Min's performance in this is absolutely superb. I'm already planning on watching everything else she has been in as, at only age 22/23 when this was filmed, her performance is magnificent, proving she really understood the character.

Started the drama due to it starring both Xiao Zan and Alen Fang, continued watching it not only for them (who are equally superb throughout) but also for her.

I'm still 10 episodes shy of the end (taking it slowly as I don't want this one to end), but this is easily in my Top 5 Asian dramas of all time.

Gripping from the opening scenes and, for someone who has the attention span of a flea :), I'm amazed I haven't been bored or restless once.

Plus, the cinematography, landscapes and soundtrack music are equally captivating. Could not love this one more if I tried :)

Fast-paced, interesting, well-written, excellent first episode. Nice performances too.

Excellent so far, superb performances, interesting plot. Could go either way, but I'm sticking with it for now as it's well-written and acted.

880 episodes? OMG! This is like the Hollywood version of TV series that lasted for many seasons!
It's like the world's longest running soap opera -- the British show Coronation Street. My whole family used to watch it when I was a kid, and I think my parents have probably seen almost every episode. :)

In 2020, it hit 10,000 episodes, so who knows how many its reached now? (It's addictive, btw, and you really grow to love and care about the characters when you see them 6 days a week (I think it's down to 4 days a week nowadays?)

those love triangle in every drama is getting on my nerves
It's lazy writing. The writer on this though is pretty much covering every stereotype she can, so that's to be expected there would also be a love triangle :)

She's a fabulous writer -- gets right to the point very quickly, which makes her work interesting, but this one is too full of tropes for me to enjoy it that much so far.

It's "meh" after Episode 1 (that's as far as I've watched). The performances are great, but it's just not grabbing my attention. Will watch Ep 2, but if it doesn't become more interesting, and less stereotypical, I'll drop it.

imo the story is kinda ass but the actors are making it so good especially ML
The whole thing is really "blah", just not interesting at all so far (I've only just finished Ep 1 though...). Performances are great, but if it hasn't picked up after Ep 2, I'll likely drop it.

Well ratings aren't reliable untill the drama ends to be honest..right now some are rating some are not while…
Idiots will downgrade a drama simply because they don't like one of the actors. You can't fix stupid, or mean and nasty. Just ignore it. :)

Why isn't its rating going up ?? 8.1 is good but not something great so is this drama really not anything great??…
NEVER rely on MDL ratings to see if a drama is good or not. So many people on here downrate for the stupidest of reasons. Or downrate it when they haven't even watched it just because they don't like an actor/director/plot they've read about on social media etc.

Watch the first episode yourself to decide (it's doing phenomenally well in Korea, btw).

And yep, it's exceptionally good so far. (Only 2 episodes in, but thrilled with everything about it so far).

Title Past Lives
Fun Fact ..... Choi Woo Shik was initially offered the role as the male lead but later withdrew ... Yoo Teo replaced…
I rarely use the word 'underrated', but Teo Yoo has to be one of the most underrated actors of his generation.

It took him a long time to get much recognition, but he finally grabbed it with his main role in Love to Hate You, in which he was superb and, since then, he's become a bit of an 'It' kind of guy.

Thrilled to see him get the BAFTA nomination, as it means more attention on him and, hopefully, many more great roles to sink his teeth into.

Love him as a person too. He seems so grounded, and so sure of what he wants. Hell, he met his now-wife, who is 12 years older than him and who he's been married to for 17 years, and knew within 2 weeks he was going to marry her. Never wavered from it, still loves her with a deep rooted passion he'll never lose.

Loved what he said when asked "What is happiness to you?", he answered "Watching Nikki make coffee in the morning".

(Sorry, this is my website, and I don't normally promote it on here, but I said a lot more about him that I still believe in this article ... :)

https://leosigh.com/teo-yoo-speaks-4-languages-and-knew-within-2-weeks-of-meeting-his-wife-he-would-marry-her-video/

And btw, Past Lives is one of the best films of last year. Easily in my Top 5. His performance in it is stunning -- as it's just so quiet and so real.

It Deserves a higher rating. Definitely a stand out!
Don't understand the rating at all. A solid 10 from me as I haven't enjoyed a drama this much in a long time (still 20 episodes to go, and savoring it as long as I can :)

To the new people leaving raw reaction reviews crying about the drama not making sense after quickly binging it…
I don't understand anyone being confused by the story? It's pretty easy to understand.

Sure, some of the first episode take place in the future, and then we get a massive flashback for the next at least 18 episodes (sorry, that's as far as I've watched so far, so I don't know when the story reverts back to the first scenes from Episode 1), but watch it instead of scrolling through your phone at the same time, and you might understand it :)

I think the problem nowadays, is so many especially younger people don't expect to have to think when they watch a drama or film, and critical thinking skills are collapsing among college age students anyway (just read a long article about that) so, if it requires more than 3 brain cells and watching out of the corner of their eye while endlessly scrolling social media it's "waaaah, waaaah, waaaah".

Personally, this is one of the best, most beautifully filmed and written, most superbly acted, most entertaining, interesting and thought-provoking dramas I've watched in a long time.

Will be sad when I finally get to Episode 40 as it has been superb in every possible way.

Title The Untamed
I get that, I had the same problem at the start. I recommend watching the animated version (Mo Dao Zu shi) it…
I'm definitely going back to it.

The problem is, I made the mistake of starting The Longest Promise, and am obsessed with that now :) Have 23 episodes of that to finish, then I'll be back to The Untamed, and will watch the first 13 episodes again before watching the rest. I have a feeling, now I've gotten more into Chinese dramas, I'll probably enjoy it a lot more.

Meanwhile, I am now the proud owner of all the Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation novels, including the Special Edition of Volume 5, with all its lovely extras. So, i apparently like the story :)
