I bought a couple of them 2 weeks ago, 1 for my friend and 1 for me. I told my friend that all my kdramas eat…
Hahahaha, I lived in Thailand for 15 years and they're massively popular there along with a whole supermarket aisle of other similar brands.
Yep, terrible. And loaded with literal crap for ingredients (sugar, palm oil, glucose, caramel 'color' etc.).
I think you have to be Asian and brought up on them to think they're 'delicious'. Just like some of the British food/snacks I love (born and bred in the UK), but that I can understand why most non-Brits think they're vile :)
I watched this drama a year ago. And it was a great watch. And the characters in the movie were believable. FL…
Thank you for your story about your friend. Love it :) And I agree with you. I dropped Coroner's Diary after Episode 2 as none of it was remotely believable, it was all just glitzy and brash, and the performances were terrible. But this one is wonderful (just started watching it this week so I can watch Season 2). Very down-to-earth, excellent performances, very well-written and quite funny, and genuinely interesting.
The rating is already down to 7.9. I wonder how low it will drop once the drama finishes. Is it actually bad?
Never ever ever ever decide to watch/not watch a drama based on MDL ratings. They're trash, and have been now for a couple of years.
They started to go downhill after the site owners' allowed hundreds of trolls to sign up, never watch a single drama, and immediately rate King the Land a 1 out of 10, causing that superb drama's rating to plummet to something like 3 out of 10 at one point. All due to morons being "offended". Never trusted the site's ratings since.
Gave this a 10/10 for what it is as the performances of both actors are incredible, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the script is beautifully written.
Particularly loved the two actors' chemistry, as they worked off each other's performances perfectly to bring out the best in each other. Probably two of the best performances from Japanese actors I've ever seen. The direction too is superb.
Where it falls down is the story is incomplete, and doesn't even get to where you expect it to go. And yes, I'm aware the manga isn't there yet either (I've been reading it for a couple of years), which is obviously why.
There's also an odd follow up from the train scene to then nothing about their relationship until over 2 months later. A very strange, frustrating jump.
Hoping all of this signals a sequel when the manga is complete, as I thoroughly enjoyed every second of what we got, and it would be a pity to end the story here
Direction was superb, with the director bringing out performances that were so incredible from the leads, they are probably the best I've ever seen from Japanese actors.
You can try these ones too, are great but diferent type of stories : https://kisskh.at/788138-the-story-of-herhttps://kisskh.at/78271-bu-si-yi-shan-ye
Ooh thanks. Always looking for something that's well-produced/directed/acted without requiring me sign up the next 2 years of my life :) Will check them out.
I enjoy short dramas, and to have watched this was a breath of fresh air (don't understand the lower rating).…
I wouldn't advise anyone start with a Season 4 of any drama or series, but especially this one, as you would miss so much of the backstory of each of the main characters you wouldn't understand a huge part of the story. Especially when it comes to the Emperor and the Princess, and the various main characters relationships with them. All of that is vital to the plot.
That being said, I agree with you on enjoying short dramas, and especially this one. I'm incredibly busy and, some days, even though I write about Chinese dramas, the thought of starting yet another 40-episode series of 45 minutes per episode that's going to take up the better part of my week makes me head to either a short drama or an anime where I can watch a 20-minute episode in a 12-episode series and be done with it :)
Have so many long dramas on my 'Too Watch' list but the way my life never seems to slow down, I doubt I'll ever get to most of them :(
Also recommend the ongoing The Miracles -- 18 mins per episode, 2 episodes per standalone story, featuring some of C-dramas top actors, and every story ends with such a feelgood feeling. Haven't loved a multi-storied drama this much in a long time.
It's a long, long, long time since I've watched a drama from ANY country that comprises many different stories and that I have loved EVERY single episode.
This is wonderful. And so many absolutely brilliant actors.
Don't understand why this is rated so low? It's just as good as the preceding three seasons and, for anyone incredibly busy (ie: me, right now), it's nice to have shorter episodes for a change.
Performances are just as solid as previous seasons, Guo Shi Min has done an excellent job directing and, to me at least, the cinematography is even prettier. Both cases are interesting too. Enjoyed this immensely,
In fact, I'd say I like this even more than I enjoyed Season 3.
EDIT: Currently also enjoying another short drama, The Miracles -- 18 mins per episode, brilliant stories that are completed in just 2 episodes, and such a feelgood drama with such satisfying endings to every story.
After getting a bit draggy with a few unnecessary episodes, the last six or seven episodes are excellent, with the writer doing a superb job wrapping everything up.
Happy to also see Su Beilu finally getting some character growth from about Ep 24 onwards. Would have loved it far more if it had been earlier on in the series, but better late than never. Even BiZhi has more of a personality in the last few episodes.
Overall, I'm giving it a 9 out of 10.
It has faults, the main one, IMO, being Su Beilu who I would have loved to see be less immature but... the positives far outweigh the negatives, and what the writer, director and cast (all of them) were able to pull off is very well worth a watch.
Hoping for a Season 2, as would love to see even more growth from Su Beilu (again, Leon Leong did a brilliant job in the role and I'll be looking for more of his dramas. I just wasn't a particular fan of the character for the first 23 episodes or so).

Absolutely obsessed with his voice and that gorgeous song. One of my favorite theme songs in a while.
It has an amazing cast too. Features almost all my favorite Chinese actors, including Bai Shu :)

Loved her in Love in Contract and Love to Hate You, and always felt she deserved much more recognition. Happy to see her now getting it.
