Drama is facing boycott due to Fan Shi Qi https://www.tonboriday.com/2025/10/list-of-fan-shiqis-upcoming-dramas.html
STOP posting your crap links from garbage website Tonboriday. You obviously own the site, as that's all you do, and all that site prints is slander and lies. Even Google has dumped it from most search results.
Fan Shi Qi's in it, that's a MUST watch for me. Brilliant actor whose life is being destroyed by losers believing lies and AI-generated video.
Wasn't Lim Ji Yeon the one who recommended him to be casted though? đź’€https://zapzee.net/2025/10/30/lee-jung-jae-lim-ji-yeon-on-yalmioon-sarang-age-ga/
Wow, just checked the Korean comments and this is getting DRAGGED on South Korean social media. Have a feeling the rating will drop massively tonight.
Personally, I couldn't get passed about minute 35 of Ep 1. Not a Lee Jung Jae fan particularly (I can see he's a brilliant actor, just not usually someone I enjoy watching), but he's so miscast in this it's peak cringe.
EDIT: I won't be rating it, as 35 minutes in isn't a fair watch time :) A shame, as the rest of the cast is exceptionally good.
Look the same age? I'd get your eyes tested if I was you. There's a 17 year age difference. Something I generally have no problem with, but he looks so much older than he is, due to the many different plastic surgeries he has had, and being as thin as a pencil, the age difference is even more glaring.
He looks like he's in his 60s, she looks her age.
And sorry, no, you don't get to say when a "discussion is over". Who do you think you are.
He's miscast, it's creepy AF, and the drama isn't funny. Couldn't get thru Ep 1 before I gave up. Won't be rating it, as that's not fair. But I have a feeling the rating will drop quickly on this one (in Korea and internationally) as he's massively miscast.
The writer of this article should be sued for that headline alone.
It's "Lily Alice" -- calling this person a "writer" is kind. They really need to put the writer's name next to the article before you click thru, as I would NEVER knowingly click on any of the trash she writes.
50? They didn't even give us 40. why???????? why take 2 episodes away?
No there was never any quota :) It was written as a 38 episode drama (EDIT: Oh, I see what you mean about the govt quota of 40 :) . God forbid, it gets dragged out with yet more LOOOOOONG conversations just to fill another hour and a half :)
As it stands, IMO, while some of the conversations are overly long and a bit too exposition-y, it's a very tightly written drama. I'd hate to see that spoiled by more episodes added just because.
It's actually something the Chinese government stopped a few years ago, as the norm used to be "as many episodes as possible to make more money from advertisers/sponsors" and Chinese fans started to complain. That's why dramas became shorter as the limit was then set to 40 of 45 minutes or less and, if a Season 2 was released, it had to be at least a year later.
They recently changed that again, however, and it will now be longer episode dramas will be allowed if the production company can prove "need", and a Season 2 can be released when they want to.
Personally, I liked the episode limit as I just don't have time to watch 50-episode-plus dramas, so I end up missing many what are obviously excellent shows.
This one doesn't suit the story of Blood River one bit, it's more like a romantic comedy historical drama ugh.…
Whoever chooses MDL's poster for each drama has ZERO aesthetic understanding. There will be 9 beautiful ones and 1 ugly one, and they ALWAYS prioritize the ugly one :)
This one looks like it's from a Cdrama in the 1990s :)

They didn't take 2 episodes away :) It was always scheduled for a 38 episode drama (I've been following it on Chinese sites for over a year). The 40 eps is just MDL's mistake, which they finally rectified.
Just about the only thing I don't like about this entire drama is Zhao Huan Ran's performance as the First Prince. His overacting is off the chart. So hard to watch, I end up watching his scenes on double speed.
Oh and he should have been killed dead a long time ago. A bit tired of Cdramas "saving" the villain over and over :)
Happy to see Blood River's ratings increase to 8.3 tho. Should be even higher, but that's a good start :)
I would like to know who's making the posters lately, because there's no way a paid editor who'd create something…
Hahahaha, I know. The one for Blood River is horrible. Especially as, normally, the Chinese do an amazing job with their promo pieces, they're always so beautiful. So much more beautiful than what comes out of Korea or Japan.
So much so, the next time I need to buy a printer, I'm buying one that prints poster-quality (my current printer is old but just won't die :). Then I can print out my faves and frame them :)
I’m on episode 10. The cast is brilliant, the fight scenes are insanely good, but the plot is a mess it doesn’t…
It really is going somewhere once it continues. The first 10-12 episodes or so set up the entire plot, which is pretty complicated, but once you get through those its real story emerges -- how almost impossible it can be to stop being an assassin's sect and transition to living on 'the other side' instead. Because other people won't let you.
For me, it's one of the most well-written Cdramas I've watched in a while as it's chockful of political intrigue that's so fun to unwind. The performances are exceptional too.
Maybe try something in a similar genre to the dramas you’ve enjoyed before. Have you finished any drama recently?…
ROTFL -- you really are aggressive and rude aren't you? You must do very well in life. LOL -- Alrighty off to do something useful with my day instead of waste it on you. Have a nice day :)

Not attacking you at all. You've just made several comments about hating the drama, so I looked at your account to see what you DO like so I could suggest something else. Apparently you don't like much as you've dropped almost every drama you've started and most with a 1 out of 10 :) Not an attack, just a fact it seems.

You may feel differently :)
