You'll never win an argument against the "fans" of certain actors. They're toxic. So there's no such thing as "agree to disagree". They're "upset" because the guy they obsess over isn't getting enough promotion (in THEIR opinion) and that will never change.
It's the same mentality as stalkers of these actors, just to a lower degree. Can't rationalize with these people. Don't even try :)
I just feel sorry for the actors. Must be terrifying having this level of obsession constantly directed at them, while attacking anyone who disagrees with them.

Ah, so if I mention the FACT that I get HUGE amounts of promo pieces and have to sort through what I get in order to prioritize what's the most important and what people want to read about, I'm "looking down on others".
No, just looking down on idiots who are constantly trying to start arguments about things they know nothing about. There's a difference.
And Ye Gods, I'm so tired of the fools on here constantly complaining about what Chinese production companies/streaming services release, instead of being grateful for what they do get.
Meanwhile, the Chinese companies couldn't care less what YOU think. But hey, waste your time being a whining fool. Bound to end well for you :)

Yep. Chinese streaming services rarely announce a premiere date earlier than a few days before. Yep, it's highly annoying. Especially when, like me, you write about them for a living and have to plan your writing and watching schedules but, they've done it this way for decades. Aren't likely to change so it is what it is :)

I literally write about Chinese dramas for a living and have been inundated with promo pieces for The Journey of Legend. So much so, I'm having to carefully choose what I publish as I just don't have time to include everything.
Honestly, you're whining about something you know nothing about.
Fight scenes are crazily chaotic, but they're beautifully choreographed and clever.
The cast is excellent, it's especially nice to see so many veteran Chinese actors involved, and the plot is interesting. Yang Xu Wen and Wang Yan Hui are also doing a superb job in their lead roles so far.
While there were parts of Episode 1 during which I found my mind wandering a little bit, I have a feeling the plot will pick up even more from here.
Overall though, if you enjoy a good crime drama, this one is decent so far and, at just 20 episodes, doesn't require an enormous time commitment.
I’m on episode 8, and the FL is really annoying me… she blindly hates the ML… Mannnn does this get better?…
Keep watching, the entire drama becomes SOOOOOO good.
BTW, Li Yi Tong's performance as Song Yi Meng is superb, and especially when SYM is continually annoying. She does an amazing job.
But, as SYM realizes she's actually in love with Nan Heng, she kicks her performance up to an even higher notch,
I watch a sh*t ton of Chinese dramas, and Song Yi Meng is one of my favorite characters of all time. And yep, I found her supremely annoying in the first half :)
I saw the comments and I feel like I wanted to drop this, but the comedy is superb! So I'm going to move on from…
It's the best C-drama I've watched all year. Especially as it's a parody of Chinese dramas, and very very cleverly written and superbly acted.
I actually dropped the drama after the first episode, I think just because I wasn't in the mood, but several people on MDL persuaded me to give it another chance. Glad I did, as I enjoyed it so much it's one of the few Chinese dramas I plan on rewatching. And very soon too. :)
Streaming platforms have no bearing on the editing of a show. It's poorly edited in the earlier episodes. But does get better as it progresses. And btw, I'm watching it via YOUKU.
Honestly personally I find the pace pretty slow... I know the last arc is pretty rushed, but I'm currently in…
Episode 12 is where I lost interest too, and then lost even more between Episodes 15 and 18. Sadly. As it started off absolutely superbly, but lost momentum after Episode 12 and stagnated from then on for me.
Because of that, I currently have it on hold. May go back to it, may not. But, for me at least, even with the excellent performances by both leads, it didn't serve up the magnificence it promised in earlier episodes as the way the plot is delivered is just "Meh".
Episodes 1 thru 6 are extremely well done, with a beautifully dark atmosphere, excellent performances and two cases (the first one solved by Episode 5) that are creepy and unusual. Love the three main leads as well, especially the two MLs, who have an interesting rapport together. Definitely recommend.
That's totally alright. The problem is Liu Yu Ning not you. He's always the same. I have watched 5 of his dramas,…
Yep, You didn't understand the cleverly written plot, the performances that were over the top because THEY WERE MEANT TO BE (it's a parody, which you apparently missed), the exceptionally smart directing, or that the drama is a brilliant and very funny parody of similar genre Chinese dramas, including all the tropes. Obviously.
Imagine attacking an actor when you don't understand anything about the property he just starred in or the performance he gave. Now that's just embarrassing.
Either this plot or not, Sima Jiao will die and reborn as mortal. Even in the novel he did.
Good for you! :)
And remember, if you ever decide to drop a drama, for the love of God, don't announce that either.
The people who announce they are re-watching scene after scene after scene in multiple posts, or even re-watching whole episodes of a new drama because an actor's smile is "life itself", will be mightily offended.
Could end very badly for you :)
(Honestly though, have no idea why a certain segment of users on MDL seem to think THEIR opinion about a drama is the be-all and end-all, and everyone who disagrees just needs to shut the eff up. Lack of self confidence in their own opinions, IMO. :)
EDIT: And like you, I was enjoying When Destiny Brings immensely for the first half of it, but am losing a lot of interest recently as the writing worsens.

You're 1,000 percent wrong. You're not allowed to criticize ANY drama on MDL that features an idol or a young actor "fans" are obsessing over. It's sacrilege and punishable by, at least, banishment and, at worst, death.
In fact, only those opinions from viewers who love, love, love the show and go ga-ga over an actor's smallest facial movement are allowed. Therefore, differing opinions must be stamped out before they cause others to notice the failings of said drama or said actor.
