there are animation scenes but very little. If you skip them, it won't affect the story for you. I suggest you give this drama a try.

Well from the opening of the drama you can see a scene that shows that they will win and become champions in the end (in the theme song at the beginning of each episode) so even if they lose to YQCB they will win in the end anyways?
