Your review is why I love detailed descriptions about what my friends are/have watched. I cheated and started…
you're always welcome dear LucyL =)

I dropped this drama after episode 8. The older characters weren’t contributing anything to the story, and Ae-sun…
well, at least I just ff-ed at least the last 4-5 episodes, I just wasn't interested enough to watch a full hour episode anymore at that point for mentioned reasons
On When Life Gives You Tangerines Mar 23, 2025
Aw, for the first 6-7 episodes I really loved this, it had everything I liked, good characters, serious topics essential questions, great cinematography and fantastic soundtrack.
Sadly, at least for me, there was a shift when the the later couple started appearing after the little one's death.
Now most of the episodes are lots of slapstick comedy, lots of everyone steadily screaming or endlessly crying forever without a real reason, and less and less real storyline development.
The first few episodes had me glued to the screen, I was either smiling or crying because the characters and storyline were really touching, but now, not much left of it.

They have been at the forefront, sure, as it is their long-awaited comeback. But it's common knowledge that the…
goodness, if you are so unsatisfied and don't understand the idea of a drama spanning over decades, how about you don't watch it, stop complaining and remain offended forever... seriously, is there some carved-into-stone rule about how much episode-or screentime main characters of a drama must have that YOU decided for the rest of the world to be valid? If you feel so deceived, stop watching it and get a grip!

and once again I have to agree with your well-written review! Yes, yes, and yes again...I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw - which I think is a first since I watch K-dramas - people with normal complexion, and they all look wonderful in my opinion. I hope this becomes a new trend as I have to say, if it's not a fantasy drama (where articficial looks are ok and wanted) I really want to see normal, authentic people. It makes the story so much more tangible.

My compliments for your writing skills too, it's rare to read such carefully worded reviews- thanks for that!

Review Melo Movie
I agree with this review a lot! I would add something though that bothered me in several newer dramas - and I know it's touchy subject but - the weight of the female leads. I have seen Park Bo young in several dramas over the years, and she, as well as some huge female Korean actresses, are meanwhile so thin it's painful to watch (and no, no envy here, I am slim myself - just before someone starts attacking my like that)
It's her, it's Jung So-min, it's Park Min-young, yes, they were slim from the start, but what I've seen from all of them in the past two years, they look emaciated, it looks forced and it's very obvious it's not their natural, slim but healthy figure.

It is so noticeable that it constantly distracts me from the actual dramas. It's just that many people, me included, have been there themselves, and you simply feel like sh7t when you are hungered down like that. You are not able for very long to work demanding jobs every day, and the KDramas always portray these super frail looking, gilrlish women mid-30 like they are fit and well, when everyone, who was there themselves, knows it's bs.
I see that KDrama wants to show beautiful people, it's the concept and that's fine with me, but this trend is one I do not like and this drama is one were this is steadily pocking my eyes.

it's his/their business of course, but it does seem a bit weird saying it's a birthday celebration with him on his knees giving her a ring. Even if a guy gives jewellry to a woman on her birthday, he normally isn't down on his knees and the woman normally doesn't scream in happy surprise about a any piece of jewellry. I guess everyone would expect it and would be happy for him/them so no idea why this awkward story when the picture is out anyways... But yeah, it's up to his agency saying what they said.

Apart from that congrats to them and I find it lovely that his girlfriend looks very cute and normal and pretty

Oh dear LucyL, I think that must be the worst review I have read from you so as I know you always have a tendency to also see the postive parts, this must be REALLY bad. I will definitely not watch this after reading your sum up of what this contains... that sounds indeed ghastly.

Oh god you sound so stupid.
ah, yes, thank you for this elaborate, highly intelligent and intellectual comment bringing up important counter arguments to my views. It must be your exorbitant intelligence overshadowing me and my stupidity, so I couldn't follow your complicated line of thinking. Thank you so much for contributing into the discussion, I will work on becoming more clever to be able one day to understand your profound words Oo

I don't really care what he posted on his social media. What bothered me about the role though was that he character was portrayed almost holy - which means trans people are all 100% fantastic, nice, always friendly, always altrustic angels - No they are not, they are people like anyone else (that's what they actually want I thought?) so as with everyone else there are nice people for sure but also they have their flaws. This very often portraying of these characters as flawless angels BECAUSE they are trans bothers me.
It also bothered me that his character always had makeup on in the show. I thought the characters weren't allowed personal items, so where is the makeup, lupstick and the perfectly blowdry hair coming from all the time? Unrealistic.
On Kim Jung Young Nov 29, 2024
I really like her a lot! She is so versatile in her roles, from playing a heartbreakingly warmhearted, lovely mother to playing a totally nasty witch-mother, she can do it all

Review Mr. Plankton
"... actors in their 30s acting like real men in their 30s instead of 12-year-old naive babies, - they might curse…
Hm, interesting, so men who curse at times or smoke a cigarette at times are jerks? Wow, I I guess, I certainly will never view men in this one-dimensional way Oo

And you, again, as many, do not understand that there is options... yes, there CAN be men described like you did, having the minds of three-year-old- toddlers, when they are in their 30s, never thinking about xxx, only being virginally pure and thinking about which flowers they can bring their mom every day of the week - yes, they might exist, but they are not representative for reality in general, and for the variety of how men normally are when they are in their 30s. And no, they don't have to be violent, steadily cursing, abusive jerks as you call them, just normal guys with normal desires and behaviour, and that behaviour is normally NOT that of an innocent toddler.

People may have a habit at certain stage of life ..they quit that habit and adapt to new ... similarly he probably…
exactly, who knows... who knows was all my point... I'm just tired of hyperventilating fans who won't let these guys be normal humans and start acting like deluded mums who think their grown up sons are still and only innocent toddlers. They are not, they are humans, they are men, let them be and don't get upset at the mere thought one of them might be smoking or having a drink at times. Peace.

As a former smoker, I wasn't convinced he was really smoking...he didn't inhale. A plausible answer could be it…
episode 8, minute 53 - he obviously inhales, and exhales both through mouth and nose...and that's not the only scene.

And I made the effort to check the animated scenes with Kim Woo-bin... yeah well, what I found, he just has a cigarette hanging in his open mouth, no inhalting whatsoever, not even sucking in smoke, nothing.

It's really sad that real people, and yes actors are real people too, are generally expected to be unrealistically perfect in a way they can never fulfill...I like watching them in their works, and what they do in private (excluding criminally relevant behaviour) is up to them, be it smoking, drinking, or whatever that when made public often caused a string of so called fans demanding and judging behaviour and harrassment of them, because they are 'so disappointed' if actors behave like humans and have any 'flaws'.

I didn't imply btw that he (or any other Korean actor for that matter) smokes 5 packs a day, I said I could imagine him unwinding at times with a cigarette . And yes, also very healthy lifestyle people do that at times, including myself by the way, and I've done workout and ballett for the past 30 years, I am slim and sporty, and take good care of my health on an everyday basis.

But well, ... you can all believe what you want, and I believe what I want... let's say all Korean actors are pure as the fresh fallen snow, they don't drink, they don't smoke, they don't go to the loo, and if they do? hey, there is only the smell of daisies of course....and their breath smells like a fresh bouquet of flowers even when they wake up in the morning. And now, we are all happy and don't have to think about potential reality, =D Bye.

I of course don't know so this is just an educated guess, but as he didn't mention not smoking here in the interview,…
look, then let me call it my guess as someone who is 45 and has some life experience... simple as that? Must my guess be the truth? No, as I said TWO TIMES in my first posting, so would you be so kind as to read and understand these words? It is up to me to guess whatever I want, and it is up to you to guess something completely different, easy, isn't it?

You do not really believe that all the male Korean actors are non-smokers in real life just because they are carefully promoted like that and you haven't seen them smoking in real life?

May I name Ji Chang-wook as an example? Very clean image still, very fit often for his roles, especially action roles, and he himself posted pics of himself smoking on his instagram, (which caused a ridiculous backlash - which he didn't care for bless him) as well as he was scolded by the media because in some of his last projects it was leaked he smoked in a conference room or something of the like when he sat together with his actor colleagues to prepare the role... and even while it was known they all were ok with him smoking it still leaked. Nice thing is he doesn't care really, also stated something like that on his instagram back then. And I applaud him for it, not because I think smoking is a great thing but because it's his decision, and I am sick and tired of babyboy-image clean, unrealistic actors promoted like they wouldn't ever drink, or smoke or even go to the loo in real life. Just as an example. This unrealistic image pressure is btw also contributing to actors or K-pop stars getting depressed or worse.

And to ad this, from my about 30 years of going to gyms in different countries and having met many, MANY people there, I can tell you, from first-hand experience, that many very well built, very body conscious men working out like crazy actually do casually smoke one thing or even the other to unwind.

I don't know how old you are, but I'd guess you are younger than me and my experience is that many younger people these days have extreme trouble accepting different opinions. Well, here is your chance, accept it, other people think differently and have opposite opinions to yours, that's life, deal with it.

In the end as I said, I don't know if Woo Do-hwan smokes in real life, but I can imagine he does and if he does? It's HIS decision... not mine and not yours either. Same goes for if he doesn't. Either way, how about not assuming you know exactly how it is - as you don't, very much the same way as anyone else doesn't know for sure who does not know him personally.
