It was definitely a monologue, an entire inner Q&A was happening there. Maybe that’s why the commentator above said "her acting was questionable at times" . She’s been on our screens quite a lot lately, and when several roles start feeling like variations of the same character, I suppose my brain just went there.

But now I have a more serious scientific question: what is the annual screen-time limit before an actor starts feeling like a permanent member of the household? She was in Love in Pavilion, The Princess’s Gambit and Duel on Mount Hua in 2025, then Blossoms of Power in 2026, And the in-coming Tiger Sniffs the Rose., at this point I’m wondering whether we need a Meng Ziyi intermission. 😂 Not because she’s bad, but because even my remote deserves to miss her occasionally.

So what’s the healthy dosage? How many dramas in a year before seeing the same actor , especially playing similar character types, starts working against them rather than for them?
